AIBU to think eyebrows don’t need to be ‘done’ beyond some plucking of the monobrow area or some general tidying if you have a lot of hairs?
I recently went to get my nails done for an event and the lady asked if I wanted to sort my eyebrows out too??

surely this is a recent phenomenon of perfect dark eyebrows forced upon women?

I wish mine didn't need to be done. Unfortunately, I have thick, long eyebrow hair. I find it easier to go to a professional, once every 2 months, to get them back under control. Otherwise they are literally disappearing into my hairline.

If you had read it you’d see that I said no one needs to get nails done. But people keep saying that I seem to think you do, showing they won’t read the damn thread

Your tone implies annoyance because you were asked if you wanted her to sort your eyebrows out. You said eyebrows didn’t ’need’ to be done. The point being made is that very few things ‘need’ to be done, including fingernails, but that lots of women have them done because they want them, and it’s a bit hypocritical to be contemptuous of women having eyebrows done if you’re having your nails done.

Maybe she thought they needed doing?! Who cares though.

I LOVE getting my eyebrows done - waxed and tinted. Frames my whole face and makes me feel so complete without makeup or any additional effort

Mine need doing. I've got grey eyes and white hair and without my eyebrows done and mascara on, I look like an albino woodlouse.

I am another who skips the nail, but gets my eyebrows shaped and tinted - plus I also now get the top lip waxing. Have not graduated to chin yet, but I am old, it will come.

Op, it’s a service. You were offered it, you declined.

If you are offended by the offer, then go to another nail tech when you next want your nails done.

No they don’t need done, same as your nails don’t need done. How you chose to look is entirely down to you.
I think your comment about it being a new phenomenon is wrong though, eyebrow shaping has been done for decades

The point everyone is trying to make about nails, is as you have already done 1 unnecessary service you are a good person to try and upsell another unnecessary one.

She was not implying that your face was hideous and you needed your eyebrows sorted, she was trying to sell you more stuff, so she makes more money. Nothing deeper than that.

We don’t need any beauty treatments but we still do have them available for if we choose them

Well, shame and weaponised self-doubt really do sell. There’s been loads of research that proves it.

really nicely done, natural brows can totally enhance a face. But the harsh microbladed horrors which turn grey eventually, look nasty.

RTFT and I stay with my original point: Neither nails nor eyebrows need to be done. That was your initial question (about the eyebrows) no matter whether she was rude or not the way she went about trying to sell her services.

The OP is correct. There is a lot of other things regarding appearance that probably fall into that category.

I do think the response to being offered another service seems a bit ott. A simple no thank you is enough.

Yes, everybody gets that you don't NEED to do anything apart from breathing, eating, drinking water and sleeping 😂

But if you go to get your nails done, how can you be offended that you are offered an upsale.

Of course they don’t ‘need’ to be done. You don’t need to do anything to them. Same with everything cosmetic. It’s down to personal choice. I could do with getting a tint and usually put a tiny bit of mascara on mine. But I’m not not interested in any kind of hair removal from them.

However, grooming your eyebrows is an easy way to make yourself look better for little effort or expense. It's surprising how big a difference your eyebrows make to your face.
