To be secretly happy my least favourite colleague has been sacked?

They were rude, nasty, disrespectful and never really did the work they were meant to do. They’ve been sacked with immediate effect and I’ll never see them again.

AIBU to secretly be glad that the arrogant knob has finally faced some consequences for their actions?!

I was in exactly this position last year. He was always going to get sacked and I took immense pleasure in it

People will disagree with you, but YANBU of course. A really bitchy gossipy woman I know, who nosed at peoples personal information and talked to others about it was sacked 3 months ago, and I was over the moon when she was sacked. She thought she was bulletproof as she was shagging the manager, but she took it all a step too far, (and 3 other employees reported her after collecting evidence about her,) and the area manager came for her. The manager who she was shagging was nowhere to be seen when she had her disciplinary and distanced himself from her hugely.

She was such a smug annoying woman, and she was bone idle and got away with murder because she was shagging the manager. I was sooooo glad when she got the sack. #sorrynotsorry

Good. It’s much better when organisations get rid of these types of people because even one bad apple really drags down the team. A company with a good culture is so much better to work for.

My management had none whatsoever but the rubbish eventually resigned for personal reasons. My tears refused to flow.

In a similar position...workplace bullies have been investigated, exposed and dealt with. Two of them redeployed to different separate locations and the ringleader sacked.
I'm fucking delighted.

I would be pleased in the OPs shoes. If not for me, for the other people the former employee had to work with. Also thinking that one less poor performer strengthens the company so making jobs less insecure.

I was quietly (I wouldn't be delighted out loud, that would be a touch rude) happy when a colleague left my workplace years ago. But bugger me if she didn't turn up somewhere else I was working much later! Fortunately she hadn't changed at all and was booted out of there without much ceremony after not many weeks. I did wonder if she was following me around for a while though.

Being sacked from a company happens so rarely so they must have done something pretty bad.

I wish there were more mechanisms that existed to get rid of genuinely toxic people/ managers / directors. I mean the ones that cause half their team to go off with stress, the ones where a high % of workers resign due to their manager, where they consistently score poorly on company feedback questionnaire.....

He was slightly senior to me - I discovered all his ‘work trips’ were false. He was actually going away for a week at a time - nice posh spa hotels. He wasn’t meeting with clients and we discovered he was taking his soon to be wife with him - wouldn’t have been an issue taking her had he actually been meeting with clients as he should have done

Work put me out to investigate and they sacked him with immediate effect.

Complete and utter tosser. Arrogant. Also a proper Walter Mitty - claimed to have done/had better qualifications than he actually had.

I once worked with a truly nasty piece of work, he was a bully and very lazy. He also took a load of sick days and seemed to get away with anything. He was a malignant force in the office and despised by all. Somehow he avoided getting the sack time and time again. I heard recently that he had died.....

I was in a similar position. Absolute bitch of a woman she was. Despised her and she ended up leaving under a bit of a cloud.

Then a few years ago I decided to change jobs and now work in a school, in the meantime, she’s gone on to have a child and the bloody child comes to the same school. FML.

If I’m ever allocated to that class, I will refuse because I want nothing to do with her or her kid.

If anyone is on LinkedIn, it's sometimes worth connecting with the most difficult colleagues so that you know they won't be at your nice, new job. Imagine them walking past your desk on your first day. 😱

(I was a contractor in an industry with a few big companies, so the chances of this happening were fairly high, lol.).
