Lucy Letby - Specifically those who think she is guilty…

I’ve just been reading massive amounts of posts of Facebook following the new doc out about LL. (Blame a long train journey!) and it got me thinking, those who still think she is guilty what are your reasons?

It does feel like the tide has turned generally. I haven’t watched the new doc yet, likewise has anyone seen it, and is it worth it?

I don't know if she's innocent or not, but don't she met the bar for being found guilty.

Hasn’t she been found guilty? Who else do you think murdered all those babies?

A jury found her guilty. People love a conspiracy.

I'm sure it's all the evidence they had was pure coincidence.

Who could argue with you really?

I’ve listened to every episode of the Trial podcast and now the one they’re doing on the enquiry as to why her actions went unchecked for so long.

I am in no doubt she’s guilty, and I’m in no doubt the hospital were failing in many ways with regards to neonatal baby care.

Sadly, both things are true, and the consequences were devastating.

I wasn’t meaning I’ve read them and changed my mind, just that there are a lot of them! but thank you.

It looks like a Channel 5 documentary. I'll try to watch it later and see if it convinces me that she might not be guilty.

I've seen one or two other documentaries and so far still trust the verdict.

I still think she's guilty. Obviously the jury would have seen alot more evidence then just the information on tv/ online, so I trust thats how they made their decision.

I do believe nhs was also responsible but LL ultimately.

How did she not know how to dispose of her notes but kept them in chronological order, neatly in her wardrobe was a thing that bugged me, as well as starring days that a child died, looking up parents on Facebook etc. All felt serial killer vibe.

The case is that there were no murders in the first place.

What are your thoughts on why she kept notes related to babies who hadn’t died? And also why some were in bin bags etc?

And yes totally agree, the jury must have seen more, would have liked to have been a fly on the wall.

Spotify, it’s the Mail podcast called the Trial. Don’t be put off, it’s a decent listen and the journalists involved are factual and sensitive. It’s very involved and will take a long time to get through as the trial went on for the best part of a year.

Whether or not she's guilty I find the idea that juries are infallible and will inevitably give the right verdict very odd. In particular I think it's a very flawed system for deciding the outcome where the evidence is technical/medical. These cases should be decided by people with both legal and medical training imo.

Because a jury found her guilty 15 times.

People really think it’s been made up that multiple babies were murdered, and attempted to be murdered, and this woman was framed? I think that’s silly.

I think people struggle to comprehend that this pretty white woman in a nice job in a position of trust could do something so horrific, and so they turn to conspiracy instead. She’s been found guilty for a reason.

One of those dead babies parents believe the baby was killed by the water from the sewerage system.
Im not in agreement LL did or did not do this, but I have seen an article by the parents of one of the “murdered babies” which says they believe their child was killed by a virus contracted from the sewerage that was on the unit.

Well, that is what a panel of people far more knowledgeable than me have stated @ToKittyornottoKitty .

I can’t tell people what to believe but I do find it odd that there’s so much incredulity in your posts when enough people who ‘know their stuff’ if you like have said this very thing - there were no murders.

It is a very troubling and disturbing case, and it’s certainly left me with an enormous sense of disquiet.

Staff in hospitals don’t generally going round suspecting their colleagues of murdering patients. Just think for a minute about how high the bar must have been for those doctors to think ‘hang on, I think this nurse is harming these babies’.

There could be 10s of reasons with none being evidence that she's not guilty.

It's for the prosecution to make their case of guilt beyond doubt. It doesn't mean that questioning everything that is not direct obvious evidence means the person is not guilty.

I strongly believe that her feelings for the doctor went beyond just obsession. She was so desperate to be loved and have a family that it became pathological. Her life revolve around him and getting his attention and affection. Nothing else mattered. And the best way to get it was by hurting the babies under their care.

My midwife sent a Facebook friend request to my husband which we thought was odd (I’m not on Facebook so I assume I’d have got one too if I was). Our DD (and me) almost died during that birth. I think some people just overstep or are nosey. It doesn’t have to be sinister.

You say so many people ‘know their stuff’ but actually, she’s been found guilty something like 15 times, of 15 separate cases, so plenty of other people who found her guilty and have seen all the evidence also ‘know their stuff’.

I think she’s guilty and won’t change my mind. For me there is no other explanation. People are saying that the ward of a poor standard but so are many many many of other NHS maternity departments, including the one I gave birth at, and the same thing hasn’t happened.
