I really liked her music and she seemed like a nice person: her Imagination Library came to my borough recently. I was very sad to hear she'd died.
But was very disappointed to read this. The statements she made about trans people deserving respect, no issue with those.
But minimising the reasonable concerns women have about being forced to let men in their toilets was wrong.
I'm not saying she should have spoken out for GC issues. It might have been best just not to comment.
Parton had connections with drag queens and I wonder if that's the lens she saw transwomen through : not an excuse but might partially explain.

What's the American rights your referring to here and how are they relevant to Dolly's personal thoughts and opinions.

If a discussion is gonna evolve, you can't just skip the original point to jump to what you want to discuss instead.

If you read properly, I was clearly I was responding to a misogynistic accusation made at me by a PP where what I said was directly relevant counter point to their post, that's not a derail. Because that wasn't OPs point, it was the point of the person I was originally responding to who said they weren't being transphobic in thinking Dolly was wrong because she was saying something counter to the supreme court ruling, which obviously made no sense. If you wanna talk about rights explain which right to SSS means Dolly cannot say or think what she said.

The SC ruling protected the rights of TIF to maternity, pregnancy, abortion care and allowed them to access female RCC. So why then is the judgement considered bad for trans rights? A TIF was raped within hours of being put in a male psych ward because the hospital followed gender ideology.

I am, and have followed the whole thread from the start. I’ve asked the OP a couple of times where Dolly has said what she wrote, as have others. I haven’t seen anywhere that she responded. So this would infer she made it up. I wonder why.

she paid for gender affirming care for an employee of hers, she wrote the music for a film about a transwoman, she opposed the bill regarding trans people and toilets. Thats supporting trans people. People who don’t think transwomen are women rarely spend that much time supporting them.

Well said. It’s possible to be wrong about stuff, and mean well. Everyone in the world who thinks men can be women is wrong, from my perspective. I’m agnostic so I’m not going to rule gendered souls out entirely, like I’m not ruling out god or a flying teapot. Some of them are objectively good people, some are not. It is misguided because women and girls matter.

But people should be able to disagree and still be friends, as you say.
