They are not going to be a Home Guard doing ARP drills, are they? They need bodyguards to keep the public away from them.

I've been off line and off grid for 24 hours, and it sounds like Andy Burnham, the Prime Minister, has said that he will favour paying benefits over any other priority. Who is going to get up to go to work every morning to pay? I shan't have a choice because I will pay 20% of everything over my £12,570 state pension next year.

I've been reading along for the last six hours or so. I think I am caught up. And I did read the papers, so I read two serious broadsheet papers' reports. Andy Burnham said that he is likely to put social equality and justice ahead of national defence. We will be just as dead either way.

Seriously. We are 70. We have some health issues, but we have done okay financially. We have enough money if we stay well and die at 77. Statistically, my DH may not get there, but I probably will as all my GGPs made their late 80s in decent shape. If I go blind, what would I prefer for my dependent geriatric years? Who makes the choice?

A fancy all female retirement complex in the UK would suit me fine. China no thanks! Thriving or not.

AB really is an amateur. I believe he also said he's open to another Scottish referendum. He reminds me of Prince George in Blackadder. Mind you if the English get a vote (ie. choice) next time, we might get a different result.

If one individual is so stinking rich that the lack of their tax would ruin UK economy, then there is something very, very wrong. Nobody needs to be that rich. I’d have some sympathy for this notion of entrepreneurial aptitude if the trickle down theory was true but it clearly isn’t.

I have worked full time, bloody hard in Nursing and then teaching since 1984, taking only a couple of months mat leave. I worked full time through Higher Ed.

I have paid full tax over all that time , paid into pension, saved for my kid’s university years and I’m bloody proud of my effort and contribution.

But I couldn’t sell a glass of water to a man dying of thirst. It’s just not in me. Honest days pay, for honest days work and pay your taxes.

NHS has done me and mine proud. We’ve been vaccinated and nurtured all our lives.

The cost of my taxation is the same as rich buggers and I’ve never felt need to hire an accountant to help me dodge it or threatened to leave this country.

I’ve never begrudged a penny of welfare or benefit to anyone. I would like to see more money (through tax) spent on ensuring armed forces veterans are homed and cared for life.

I don’t understand why some folks are so damn greedy.
