Absolutely it is hilarious to chase away the people who pay to feed the poor in the UK.

HMRC collected circa £938bn in tax and NI in 2025-26. £330m is 0.035% of that - so, about 35p in every £1,000. I think maybe we’ll be ok.

Of course, if all the billionaires closed all their businesses then yes, we’d have a problem. But many people see a problem with billionaires hoarding their wealth while the people who work for them are often subsidised with HB, tax credits etc.

This guy gave Cambridge University £190m to build a school with his name on. He could have comfortable afforded a tax rise. You want us to press down harder on poor and middle earners rather than scare off the big boys? That seems weak and counter productive to me.
