Sometimes people write such utter drivel.

War is a bad thing if you and/or your family/friends end up dead.

I don't think a lot of people will be bothered enough by the end of the Capitalism to sacrifice their children for it.

I doubt my great grandfather who fought in WW1 was cheering on the fact that his daughters would get the vote when his 18 year old mates were getting shot around him. Nor do I think my grandfather was really thinking 'great free healthcare' when his neighbours were getting bombed out and was getting shot at by German aircraft over Hamburg.

Posts like this are so utterly removed from the reality and experience of war. They show up the utter privilege and the lack of awareness of the poster making them.

Live through a war, THEN come back to me spouting ideological crap like this and I might take it seriously.

I have no view on that, but I do think he’s another hostage to the back benches and their welfare constituents, as well as being a lightweight, a cypher, and a caretaker.

The generous interpretation of the Thatcher quote is that she was wearing her benevolent Tory hat for Woman's Own, and saying we should help ourselves AND each other as individuals because its the right thing, and we don't need 'society' to impose this or rely on.
Unfortunately this is largely pie in the sky because people are often inclined to want to 'help themselves' to whatever they can get their hands on and sod other people. As the braying to make people poorer so we pay less tax illustrates.
So arguably the helping others thing does actually need enforcing by the state so no one gets the chance to refuse.
Its also more economical, efficient and consistent for 'help' to be provided collectively and coordinated by the state that the rather haphazard scatter gun approach of people helping when they feel like it.

Endorsing and agreeing with the OP that the government have taken the sanctions route on Israel to win the Muslim vote rather than because the Israeli government are enabling and facilitating settlers to use extreme violence to force people out of their homes for years and it's about time somebody shone a light on it

A really good example of posting nothing of real value. Swooping in to give more focus to the idea that Burnham is as you picked up (deliberately out of context) a 'wrong un' without offering other thoughts or solutions. That is why the endless daily threads are so tedious.

I understand that it is because of the planned expansion of the housing development for settlers. They are going ahead with another 1.200 homes for settlers in the Occupied Territory. They are have also been firing at school children - according to their teacher.

Maybe because he's just signed off expansion plans last month on an area they themselves have said will erase the possibility of a Palestinian state, and enough's enough??

i agree. She was simply pointing out all our responsibilities as citizens and discouraging the reliance on some sort of abstract idea which gets us all off the hook.
