As stated by Miriam Margolyes today, as she gets worse and worse...... and worse.

It was intolerable what she said on This Morning last week.
And now what she's saying today by way of defending herself is even further intolerable.

Nope. Not buying it. No-one I know thinks that word (cripple) is OK when describing someone who is disabled. Keep rooting for tenuous links to 'prove your point' though @HotGrapefruit (Thinking you have won the argument with a Wikipedia link! LMFAO! 😂)

I also stand by what I say, you don't get to tell other people they are not allowed to be offended by it. I think it's a horrible word to call someone who is disabled. You don't get to tell me I am wrong.

Not shocked to hear you are a fangirl of Jim Davidson and Chubby Brown though.

I'm not remotely 'a fan' of Brown or Davidson, but I have certainly followed their careers as I am fascinated by their popularity (as, I think, we all should be).

Suuuuuuuuuuuure you're not a fan. 😂

No it's because she asked a black man 'what are you??' and then went on to dig a deeper hole with more offensive langauge.

And TOLD him "Well, you’re a mix, aren’t you? So you’ve got a Black daddy and a white mummy.”

TOLD him, live on air, the ethnicities/races of his parents.

That she was wrong about anyway!

Absolutely disgraceful excuse for a human being, and I'm glad it's out there now. People know what she is.

I grew up in the area and being assaulted by travelling celebs like these was part of the summer work for myself and lots of teenage girls at the time. I think enough said on that point?

We can all play 'the link' game @HotGrapefruit except mine holds a lot more weight and credibility than yours.

Guidelines from the Government that state cripple is a VERY derogatory term to describe someone disabled.

I really hope you don't have a job because you will get the sack if you carry on using that word because YOU are not offended by it.

She reminds me of my MIL at that age which in hindsight was the beginnings of mixed dementia removing her filter. E g making a loud comment in a cafe that "people like that shouldn't be in here" about a well known lovely local lad with learning difficulties who tended to be a bit noisy.

ginasevern · Today 12:13

@Gloriia "For some reason whilst yes many of us are appalled by her offensive crap she seems to get away it because she's a fat, woke leftie."

She's very far from "woke"!

Magicpaintbrush · Today 12:15

She knows exactly what she is doing. She sets out to shock because it amuses her. Programmes keep bringing her on precisely because they know she's a loose canon and she is a talking point. I don't think she could be cancelled, she would just keep popping up everywhere. I don't think she would give a shit even if she was.

Magicpaintbrush · Today 12:16

I knew she was batshit when I watched her Australia programme and she ate a whole raw onion for breakfast the way you would eat an apple - apparently a regular habit. The breath!!!

Yes she eats onions like apples she was on something where she was in Japan with other elderly celebs and she was doing it then, I am sure she is just obnoxious for the attention and thrill !

Of course you wouldn't use it at work - it's a self-describing label that some disabled people are re-claiming for themselves, because it is offensive. It's not a politically correct term to use.

Minoritised groups often reclaim offensive words to take back power. This has a long history.

Even in Saddam's Iraq, the elderly could speak their minds without fear - they just didn't do it on national TV.

This woman shouldn't be persecuted but she shouldn't be on TV.

I am amazed anyone cares what she’s saying, tbf. Why are y’all so invested in Miriam margolyes all of a sudden?!?!

Or maybe you have just reclaimed it for yourself ! I agree groups of people might reclaim words for each other amongst their peers etc etc. That doesn't mean it is for general use or discussion. If Miriam Margolyes personally referred to me as a "cripple" to try and relate she would get an earful, i am in a group for women with my specific disability we are not all calling each other cripples.

She’s a nasty old hag. How she hasn’t been cancelled is beyond me.

Woah, no need for the raging ageism and sexism.

Criticise her for what she says if you like.
