I've seen this a few times and I dont know what is the right thing to do.
So the other week we were at the cinema. I took my daughter to the toilet and as I was waiting for her a man came out of a cubicle with a little girl and went to wash her hands.
It got me thinking.
I feel uncomfortable a man in the womens toilet. I understand how you'd potentially feel uncomfortable taking a daughter into the mens toilets.
And the only other option in this situation was the disabled toilet but morally thats wrong.

I dont know what I feel is right in this situation so wanted to know other people's opinions.
So yabu: its right for a man to take girl into female toilets
Yanbu: he should take her somewhere else...but where?

Really?

I didn’t think so, but then I don’t think disabled people accessing disabled toilets should have to wait for a non disabled person, so I’m not the target audience.

I think you're getting the posts confused. The post that I said was funny was the one that pointed out that someone was acting like a pre schooler, or words to that effect. And It was funny, because she was!

It seems they objected to that and reported the post. Maybe they're a tad sensitive, or at least when they're on the receiving end. Not so much when they're dishing it out though, as glibly refer to men generally as " gormless men"

The post didn't contain any reference to disabled toilets. If you'd care to read my previous posts, access to disabled toilets and the related difficulties isn't something I find remotely funny!

I don't refer to all men as gormless just the ones who think it's ok to use the ladies toilets? My dh is lovely and certainly wouldn't be so rude as to barge into women's only facilities.

I didn't report the post? Hope that helps.

I’m sure you did find it hysterical.

I think some of the more extreme pro-men posters have been taking the piss as I don’t believe intelligent women think like that.

I haven't seen any pro-men posts, let alone extreme pro-men posts.
What I have seen is that some posts are from a Child First Approach.

Someone holding or voicing an opinion that differs to yours doesn't necessarily indicate a lack of intelligence, may be just a different view point.

Most of us have opinions on this matter that have in part been influenced by our own personal situation and experiences.

You previously posted that I have a rigid stance, you're totally right, on this I have. I have a teenage daughter that for reasons I don't need to explain has to be escorted and assisted to go to the toilet. Disabled toilets arn't always an option.

Very rarely is my daughter with anyone other than myself. On the rare occasion that she is I'd actually get some sense of comfort in thinking that if the need arose, and a disabled toilet wasn't available that if a male family member respectfully attempted to access the women's toilets with her, that any women in the toilet would display some understanding, tolerance and flexibility.

Can you please stop harping on about how I am dehumanising little girls I absolutely am NOT I am a woman and used to be a little girl. You are the one who is sexist towards little boys . You think it’s fine for them to be exposed to all these imaginary pedophiles .

an adult man is a sexual being and should not be in a women’s only space . A child is not a sexual being and is fine to enter the same sex space of the parent once supervised . Question answered .

now can you answer the questions you have been avoiding about little boys being protected from these pedophiles you speak of and men in womens changing rooms ? Of course you will avoid answering cos you know your argument is a load of crap and does not hold water at all, that’s why

You did dehumanise, hopefully you understand enough not to do it again.

And no, I actually I said if boys too young to manage can go into the women’s toilets, why are you excluding girls? At least girls are the right sex.

You responded with some weird hypothetical question about what would I advise if faced with your Irish communal changing rooms that have no cubicles whatsoever. I have no idea what I would do, as I don’t think they exist in reality and you refused to provide any proof that these are commonplace. If they’re common you should have been able to provide some link about it without revealing where exactly you live.

At least now you’ve answered that you think which toilet is based on the sex of the parent escorting either sex child. I don’t agree. I think little girls have a right to use the women’s toilets and if their carer is a man he is an exception to the rule and has just as much reason to be there as a cleaner.
