This is some dystopian lord of the flies hell. Those poor women. Burned on the boat. Wth. Poor man stabbed to death. Why are the people that did this then going to be roaming free in the UK? Why are they allowed to enter the UK in the first place? Why are gangs not being 'smashed'?

How is it misinformation? Italy, Greece, Spain are sea-bordered countries, so will likely be a first safe stop for migrants.

The Dublin Agreement hasn’t resolved this anywhere. The numbers returned are tiny due to criteria and acceptance rules, we took more than returned.

Yes every now and then (like the windrush generation), people from other countries are asked to come and live here because we need their help.

But from the views on this thread, it is the undocumented immigrants coming over that is the major issue and not immigrants as a whole (for the majority who aren’t racist).

The issue is that people are very vocal about not wanting them here but have no alternative solution apart from to continue to scaremonger or state false information as fact - which literally helps no one.

Then when you tell them their ideas of sending them back home, giving them tents to live in or putting them in another random country aren’t suitable solutions then you are accused of not caring about women and girls (even though we are women too), being part of some conspiracy or some insult regarding being a leftest.

Maybe they wouldn’t come if they weren’t able to get a roof over their head and free meals

Under the Dublin agreement there was an option to return asylum seekers to the country where they were first processed or where they first applied to asylum. If a person did not go through the processing on their way to Germany, Italy or Spain, there was nowhere to return them to. So Dublin agreement is not a myth per se.
According to the government figures, nearly 300k people were returned under the Dublin agreement between 2010 and 2015. Forced returns still happen but now after the application is processed and refused and at a significantly lower numbers compared to pre-Brexit. Fewer than 10k a year as opposed to 60k a year up to 2015. Additional 20k are refused entry, however over 50% of those are EU nationals without a valid visa so not relevant for the purposes of this debate.

I have no idea if this permit will eventually legalize them
