This is some dystopian lord of the flies hell. Those poor women. Burned on the boat. Wth. Poor man stabbed to death. Why are the people that did this then going to be roaming free in the UK? Why are they allowed to enter the UK in the first place? Why are gangs not being 'smashed'?

Why won't the government tell us the truth about their crime rates?

Channel chaos as migrant dies, two women burned and one stabbed on same boat

Forty-five of those on board continued towards the UK and were picked up by a British rescue vessel.

What 'real life action' do you suggest?

And btw - raising awareness and increasing debate - giving sunlight to issue, ensuring people don't feel they are the only ones with certain views, always helps. Though admittedly - I think many people in the UK population see this issue now.

Perhaps more traction now AB is installing asylum seekers in the Cotswolds (or which ever posher leavy suburbs he chooses. Perhaps the Cheshire village he grew up in).

I’m not sure why the op can’t start threads. This one is 78% yanbu.

Obviously some won’t like women talking about this for various reasons, but tough really. They can hide the thread.

You’ll be getting called thick, uneducated and racist for this post.

Anyone who thinks letting Windrush in was wrong are thick and stupid

Tiredtaxpayer · 30/08/2026 14:02

@Firetreev it's not a country filled with resources. ( ! )

I don't think you've studied much UK history.

We had gold and slate (in Wales) and iron ore in Lincolnshire (especially around Scunthorpe), tin (in Cornwall) silver, and copper
The Weald (Sussex and Kent): Clay and sand beds provided shallow iron ore exploited from Roman times through the Tudor era for local smelting and cannon manufacturing
Later on when deep shaft sinking began in 1900s we had access to coal at deeper levels.
We had a prosperous fishing and shellfish industry.
We had extensive forests, especially of oak from which we made ships.

Yes it’s on every thread. But obviously the majority of women voting do agree with you.

Its not just the latest batches though is it? Beginning with Windrush wave upon wave of large ethnic groups have been allowed into this country and given equal citizenship without any public consultation in the form of a referendum. I don't remember being asked if I wanted to vote for so called "multi ethnic society". I know what my vote would have been.

You are just ignoring the legacy of slavery and Empire. We took over their countries and subugated and exploited the indigenous people and their natural resources.

People from the British colonies were invited here to do the jobs that English people didn't want to do. They were met with hostility, racism and violence.

People don't realise that once you vote in a fascist it's too late - your country will be destroyed and led by the worst people imaginable. Imagine the town low life being in charge of your local council. That's how it will end up. Lowe and his outfit will lead this country into the gutter. They won't solve any problems either, once the immigrants are 'dealt with' they'll move on to the disabled, the LGBT community, children with SEN etc. It'll be an endless list of scapegoats and eventually you'll probably find yourself or someone you love and care for on it. The very wealthy will get richer and everyone else will suffer.

I agree with you on this. We need the Conservatives in. Not Reform or Restore, for the reasons you describe..

You can just google the Windrush. It's recent history, plenty of information available.

@thepariscrimefiles You are just ignoring the legacy of slavery and Empire. We took over their countries and subugated and exploited the indigenous people and their natural resources.

Which is exactly what the Romans and Vikings did to us.

But the Romans gave us roadbuilding skills, they built advanced infrastructure, sanitation established lasting legal and administrative systems, and introduced new foods and crops that shaped modern society.
Women had rights in Viking times that they lost and didn't regain for 10 centuries. They could own land, they could inherit land, and they could speak at the parliament.

We gave our Colonies, education, laws, and transport (railways) and abolished some of their barbaric practices like human sacrifice and Sati.

Your anger needs to be directed at the traffickers who sell these people a dream and make it seem that they can come here and set up a life for their families to safely come over.

Multiple people die on these journeys every time.
Even those who survive are usually severely dehydrated and have infections.
Women and children are less likely to do these journeys because they are the ones most likely to die.

I don’t think anyone should go to any country undocumented and we cannot take in millions of immigrants now we have left the EU and less people can emigrate.

However, it’s not the desperate people risking their lives on boats to provide for their women and children back home that I feel any anger towards.

We cremate bodies in this country every day so I don’t get the faux concern when you’re obviously not that upset about it.

Surely they only have to check their phones to see that the UK isnt the land of milk and honey like the traffickers told them

hourglass2 · 30/08/2026 13:36

Not forgetting the government issued a leaflet to these men saying it's not normal or acceptable to rape women...

I've no doubt some will be fuming that this ever came to light, hourglass2 - not unlike the "scripts" which assorted support organisations handed to incomers, suggesting what they might claim for the best chance of acceptance

The best you'll get is "we have rapists too", which is perfectly true, but I've yet to see an answer as to why we should risk importing any more. There's a caveat of course, in that migrants are most certainly not all rapists, but deeply misogynistic cultures can produce attitudes which are poorly fitted to life in a more liberal nation

The British government recruited my parents in the 60s and paid them to come here and work as doctors. They had the immigrant work ethic and worked tirelessly till they retired. My mum didn’t want to come but my dad was more keen. They integrated, respected society and claimed no benefit other than the pension. I now do the same. I now work as a doctor, have never called in sick, claim no benefits and am married to an English man and my young adult kids are as ‘English’ as anyone else, working hard and contributing.. Are my parents and me the people you object to?

It says they were given British Citizenship and the right to live and work in UK. I see nothing about 'hostility, racism and violence'.
Many of them had jobs on the London underground or in nursing (if suitably qualified)

to add - will make me vote Restore or Reform regardless of the idiots running these parties - it's a last hope of someone doing something

Good luck with that. They haven’t made a single policy that is workable to make any difference.

FirstNationsEnglish · 30/08/2026 14:25

It does not matter that 'numbers arriving are reducing' - reduced numbers arriving are still increasing the amount of people being here and being a drain on our very finite resources. I wonder what are the ulterior motives for continuing to import so many young men who do not align with British ways? Beware the enemy within.

How do we know when they haven't been tried? If existing policies haven't worked then we don't have much option except to "think outside the box".
You must know the definition of 'stupidity' surely? - "Doing the same thing and expecting different results"
Labour won't get anything workable through parliament because they can't control all the 'Corbyn Babes' on the back-benches.
Meanwhile the country slides into oblivion.

😂😆 Aw you're so cute. Kindly 😆

Hate to update your antiquated the mirror is the left wing version of the daily mail crap, but wake up. It's embarrassing for you. Honestly. Things have changed A LOT since eg. the Hillsborough days. In those days for example, Labour really was the party of the working people.

Listen - I'm self confident enough to be able to post an article by the mail, the express, the sun, the times, the guardian, al jazeera, sky news, the spectator and many more. You see I don't just judge an article by the organisation which presented it. Unlike you, check yourself and your questionable assumptions. It'll benefit you. And others.

But have you checked the article and searched for additional information about the event in question in multiple sources? Or have you simply made a questionable assumption based on absolute minimum information in this article? Because to me, it seems like you invented a whole back story about women being burned alive at sea by the men sharing the boat with them whereas the article says nothing of the sort. And, in fact, it took me three minutes to find a variety of reports on burn victims as a result of French riot police throwing smoke bombs at people attempting to board the vessels.

I am all for having an informed debate but it is not possible when people are spreading information from an unchecked source and extrapolate based on a 50 word article with zero detail.

But the Conservatives created this - by instigating Brexit, meaning that the UK is no longer signed up to the Dublin Agreement.
