AIBU to be deeply concerned about the sheer number of unchecked undocumented unknown men coming into the UK?

This is some dystopian lord of the flies hell. Those poor women. Burned on the boat. Wth. Poor man stabbed to death. Why are the people that did this then going to be roaming free in the UK? Why are they allowed to enter the UK in the first place? Why are gangs not being 'smashed'?

Why won't the government tell us the truth about their crime rates?

Channel chaos as migrant dies, two women burned and one stabbed on same boat

Forty-five of those on board continued towards the UK and were picked up by a British rescue vessel.

All of it, the dangerous chaos and impact on women and girls.

How about you, what part do you like the most?

How is being injured on a boat of immigrants anything to do with the dangerous chaos and impact of women and girls?

I don’t like any part of the story apart from that they were given medical treatment and the women were rescued before they died of heat stroke.

CoventryCity · 30/08/2026 20:45

TemperanceWest · 30/08/2026 20:34

There we have it.

I am out now, as I don't feel comfortable participating in a thread started to push Restore's agenda and flog its very dodgy (and probably Musk backed)"report". I now understand why CoventryCity has started so many threads on this issue, including those deleted by mnhq.

Edited

Mnhq only deleted one of my threads as someone reported it, I guess. The other one deleted, wasn't mine. I don't support reform or restore btw. I saw a 'labour' thread where all the posters did was talk about reform. Are you on that?

It’s all part of the same system clearly. The deaths and injuries on the way are because of the chaotic system.

Tiredtaxpayer · 30/08/2026 14:02

@Firetreev it's not a country filled with resources. ( ! )

I don't think you've studied much UK history.

We had gold and slate (in Wales) and iron ore in Lincolnshire (especially around Scunthorpe), tin (in Cornwall) silver, and copper
The Weald (Sussex and Kent): Clay and sand beds provided shallow iron ore exploited from Roman times through the Tudor era for local smelting and cannon manufacturing
Later on when deep shaft sinking began in 1900s we had access to coal at deeper levels.
We had a prosperous fishing and shellfish industry.
We had extensive forests, especially of oak from which we made ships.

I think you need to read a history book if you don't realise that this pales in comparison with the wealth and resources we extracted from throughout the British Empire!

TemperanceWest · 30/08/2026 20:49

CoventryCity · 30/08/2026 20:40

You understand nothing. I have zero to do with Restore or Reform, not my bag.
I do support women and girls though. And the report isn't dodgy. I understand it suites your mental model to think it is. C'est la vie.

I don't care what you think of me. The survivors of grooming gangs deserved better that that botched excuse of a report.

It would have been better than nothing

It was nothing. It was for a tiny number and we agreed to take refugees who had arrived in Rwanda (the most vulnerable ones) in return.

EasternStandard · 30/08/2026 20:45

The people getting on the boats has absolutely nothing to do with the system.

The traffickers will tell them that it’s ok etc and how to get around any system.

America does not have the same system that we do but Mexican people will still climb the fence.

There can be no system in place that can physically stop people coming.
It’s just not possible.

The only thing we can control is what happens once they get here.

LuckyHazelFox · 30/08/2026 20:50

Sav34 · 30/08/2026 20:26

So if domestic white British people commit horrific SA we should allow men in from even worse nations?

Stop these men coming in you at least don't actively add to the problem? You at least reduce some stranger attacks (because I assume no women would get romantically involved with these men.)

I know. I think we are getting sick of being told who we should and shouldn't be afraid of. There's some big effort going on to have us believe we are more at risk from our own partners.

My heart goes out to those women and girls in Rotherham. And yes, there was an outcry but as someone who has worked with vulnerable young people for some decades now, I can tell there has been numerous Rotherhams. In most of the situations I've come across victimology was more relevant than perpetrator demographics. Because the young people didn't fit the picture perfect victim stereotype their experiences were dismissed and perpetrators were free to harm. There's a crap load to fix, always has been and always will be until focus goes on the right things.

85% 90% of violent crime towards women is perpetrated by someone known to the victim. As women we are rightly attuned to stranger danger but statistically strangers only account for a very small number of VAWG perpetrators. If anything, and assuming these men are as dangerous as your average man, it is Muslim women who have these Muslim men in their circles who are at far greater risk than you or I.

I agree ! So why add more.

And rightly so!

They deserve a lot more. From everyone who is supposed to have their best interests at heart.

WE never actually got a proper Brexit due to "Maybe May" not knowing what she wanted. That's why David Davis resigned as Brexit Secretary because "she used to be decisive but then she wasn't so sure". Plus hubby had some banking interests in Brussels in banking I understand.

This sort of nonsense is depressing. Brexit was simply leaving the EU. We left. It’s shit because it was always going to be shit, there was no deal which wouldn’t be shit, not because it wasn’t ‘proper’ Brexit. It’s just a way for people who were duped by Vote Leave’s shit to dodge accountability.

Of course they do in that they are impacted by it.

If they get hurt or die then yes it is impacting them.

Your last line isn’t true btw.

You can do as you like, but algorithms just feed back what people want. If it’s a left voting Corbynite who only wants to see Palestine info they’ll get it.

Yes. They feed fragmentation and black and white thinking. They aren’t bad because they fee some people a lot of right wing stuff or a lot of misogynistic stuff. They are bad because they feed people more and more of something they show a passing interest in and stifle broader, more nuanced information. They stop everyone from seeing more than one side unless they actively go looking for it.

Well we should but no chance of that while the lefties are telling us all these fighting fit men are traumatised. Men being put above women, by other women. Bit like the support they give to the misogynistic Labour Party.

It would have been a net outflow.

I'd rather see them detained, deported and worst case sent straight back to their home nation

If who gets hurt or dies?

Sorry you were talking about women and girls and now I’m not sure if you’re talking about the immigrants or W&G still.

It’s the first line of your post, if you read your post it relates to that - the people getting on boats

How do they get here safely, though? I don't think launching little children across the sea in rubber dinghies is very advisable.

But this is the big issue - the countries don’t take them back or we have no idea where they came from.

So what do we do with them?

They are going to come regardless.

We’ve had people travelling to other countries by boat since time began, it’s literally how the world was discovered (Columbus, Darwin, pirates etc).

Our main issue is what happens when they get here.

Since the crisis began many EU nations foolishly gave these migrants residency. Now in the decade since many have become EU citizens. Had we not left they would have had free right to move here and we would have had no way to stop them.
