This is some dystopian lord of the flies hell. Those poor women. Burned on the boat. Wth. Poor man stabbed to death. Why are the people that did this then going to be roaming free in the UK? Why are they allowed to enter the UK in the first place? Why are gangs not being 'smashed'?

Why won't the government tell us the truth about their crime rates?

Brexit was too 'loose' and it was a basic agreement with in-flight plans. There wasn't a proper fishing agreement. The Scottish Fishing Federation said that there wasn't enough control over it's waters. I could list others.
EU Austerity, the Arab Spring and Angela Merkel breaking EU laws by throwing open Germany's borders (and causing a mass movement of people across Europe) didn't help the deal.
We'd already put up with subsidising 3 Greek bailouts 2010, 2012 & 2015, for £289bn, £259bn and $330bn.
So we took what we could get, although some people said we'd have been better off leaving with "No deal"

People have all sorts of preferences and priorities in general election obviously. Economics / cost/ quality of living etc most likely will be the main issues I would think.

( Illegal) Immigration may well be a fringe issue but it may influence who wins marginal seats.

It suits a young person better, dp did it many decades ago.
It should not be beyond the wit of our finest minds to automate the process and train people to use those tools. Then we would not need to exploit cheap labour from abroad to be housed in squalid portakabins.
I hear the conditions in Spain, the source of much supermarket produce, can be very poor. Many who manage to survive the trip to Europes golden shores end up there.
Mind you, successive governments are building on agricultural land so perhaps it will not be an issue soon.

We voted to leave the EU. We left the EU, all of its institutions, every treaty governing it and every right and obligation conferred by EU membership.

That's a harder brexit than its most ardent supporters hoped for and much harder than proposed by Nigel Farage for example.

Well, I can only say (after a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc) that there is a lot of truly decent people, not just in this country, but also on this site.

And we’re not all knuckle dragging racists, but educated women who are simply concerned.

There are very few 'knuckle-dragging racists' ime, but there are many many worried parents of daughters.

Yet they are so worried about their daughters they vote for the likes of reform and restore who have such a horrendous track record and who have policy proposals that will make things so much worse for woman.

1.My great grandfather 80s, was left in N France WW2 while other members of the family walked south to safety. He was too old to do the same. Eventually my grandfather deserted to look after him. ( Wars are chaotic).
2.My neighbour ( Jewish) escaped from a train taking him to a concentration camp in Poland WW2. He didn't go back to get his mother. Too dangerous. He escaped to France. .
3.Another neighbour from Armenia ( massacres pre WW2) left his family en route to Britain because they had no papers. He learnt that the Turks could be bribed to provide some so he left the family to get the travel docs.
4.A woman ( Jewish) left her daughter in a convent in Belgium before she was sent to a concentration camp where she died. ( 6 years later a refugee came to GB, told child's aunt her sister had hidden her daughter and after 2 months searching the girl was found and brought to England.
5.My father left his mother WW2 because he was being targeted and it was safer for her if he left.
