AIBU to refuse apologising after being blocked in at Tesco?

So, yesterday I go to Tesco with DH. DH is a wheelchair user and has a Blue Badge.

There were no disabled bays or parent and child bays so I went to a far corner of the car park where there were two empty rows of normal bays and parked between 2 bays so had room for DH to get in and out.

Lo and behold we came back to a car parked so close to my driver's side that I couldn't get between the cars - less than 10 inches in between. The car had parked over into the bay I had half parked in.

We were obviously WTF. The other bays around us were still empty.

Coming round to the front of the cars, we saw there was a young lad no more that 15-17 sitting in the passenger seat of the other car. He obviously couldn't get out of his door either because it was up against mine! I said 'what kind of idiot would park like this' or some such. He said 'my dad'. Then asked him why he'd blocked him in.as well. He didn't answer and just kept his head down. I will admit I did swear a bit saying for fucks sake, this is fucking disgusting. Then said 'tell your Dad he's a complete cunt'. At no point did I make threats to the lad or swear at him. I knew he didn't park the car.

Anyway I then climbed in through the passenger side, moved the car into the row in front, got DH in and we left.

The Dad had not come back. I'm kicking myself because I didn't take a picture of the way he'd parked.

Anyway, tonight at around 8pm there's a knock at the door and two policemen are there. My heart dropped because I thought it was about one of the DC (both were out with friends), but they said they'd had a complaint about me causing 'fear and alarm' to a minor!

Turns out the Dad must have already had my reg number and told the police what I'd said. No mention of how he'd blocked me deliberately and left his son trapped in the car!

He must have known whoever came back to the car would be angry!

Anyway police said I could make a formal apology to the boy and the matter would not be taken further - this was because I admitted swearing.

I said No I will not as I had figured out by then that the Dad had done this all deliberately. No clue who he is.

AIBU to think he must be an absolute psycho?

Especially to leave his son trapped in the car!

What parent involves their child in road-rage or carpark-rage incidents??

It's a poor way to raise a child.

If the parent is so concerned about the child not being scared they should have taken them in the supermarket with them

The point is two people parked terribly . One person was aggressive and rude to a lone child who was innocent in the situation and deserves and apology . Everything else about what everyone knew about each other is speculation

I think your language was completely out of order - I don't know who uses that word without thinking it is incredibly offensive - but I do think don't the police have anything better to do - that part of it is ridiculous!

Please note that one parked with the intent to cause another difficulty and anger. The other may have parked poorly but inconvenienced no one and solely did so with the purpose of taking care of her husband.

You were unreasonable, he was unreasonable. I'm not sure I believe the police visited you over this.

I don't understand being so excited about the teenager being 'trapped', surely he could have climbed out the same way you climbed in, if he'd needed/wanted to.

I really don't see how this argument works, though. It's one thing if it's a theatre full of self-confident, empowered women shouting it proudly at a production of The Vagina Monologues; but surely the total opposite if it's then used as a gross insult for a nasty person and/or vile behaviour? Even more so when the very worst thing a woman can think of to insult a man is to compare him with her own standard female genitals?

Exactly. The very worst thing to call a man seems to be the worst word available for a wet, moist sword sheath. I just can’t feel dramatic about it.

I like to not do stuff that pisses people off as a rule of thumb when I go out into the world which prevents shouting matches in car parks, but if someone brought trouble to my door they might just get called a cunt and I’ll live with the ramifications of that.

Also imagine if it was the cunt of an OLDER woman!!! The disgust that that might generate. I reckon the firing squad might turn up!

OP was mildly U for parking across two bays. Had reasons, but these are unlikely apparent to anyone else lest they happened to be looking for a blue badge.

Dad driver parks inconsiderably to teach a lesson. He is more U than the OP but, again, unlikely to know her reasoning and felt he had a lesson to teach. A bit childish and unnecessary in my view.

OP returns. She is blocked in. Annoying. But has the option of climbing over the passenger seat and moving car to accommodate wheelchair, and this is exactly what she does. Yes annoying but personally I would have muttered under my breath and got on with my day.

OP then proceeds to shout abuse at a child who has nothing to do with his dad’s parking. This is utterly U and rightly she was spoken to about her horrible behaviour. She does owe this CHILD an apology. She owes the dad precisely nothing. But then she chose to take her anger out on a child and that’s on her.

You could have gone back into the store with the reg and put a call out for the driver rather than involve someone who isn't even old enough to drive
