I don't even think I necessarily want women and children coming in in large numbers. Women are just as capable of having (internalised) misogyny, if you think about who performs FGM it's older female relatives.
Then, there's our definition of "child" - your'e potentially getting children who are in fact late teen boys, with their attitudes to women already formed.

I would of course want the UK to take high-profile women activists, dissidents etc who are genuinely in danger for pushing back against regimes like the Taliban. People like that can be our biggest assets.

I agree, @NancyThompson . When questioned the female relatives of the grooming gangs just shrugged and said the victims were white trash and it was quite acceptable for their menfolk to be sexually using them.

I also do not want increasing numbers of people to be wearing the burqa. It is not a “choice” and it is becoming normalised now instead of being the garb of the ultra-religious. I only used to see women fully covered in Selfridges (coming out of limousines!) but now they are even at the school gate and of course do not interact with anyone.

I'm sure it's all part and parcel of tearing down the West. I see everything as interlinked, trans activism (destroy the traditional family) anti racism (make every white person ashamed and "guilty") DEI (push intersectionality to the point of absurdity [see recent Cambridge debacle] and lower standards to achieve some spurious kind of equalisation). Run down to the point of uselessness our armed forces. Allow things such as the Chinese super embassy to burrow down within inches of our vital infrastructure. All this and a million other actions that are chipping away at our society and it's security. The cherry on the top, or is it the last straw? Filling the country up with (mainly) low grade immigration such as the now 10s of thousands of illegals.
Karl Marx and Lenin between them couldn't have come up with a better plan to destroy Western civilization. Once it's done, there'll be a Stalin type figure to knock the survivors into shape.

When I lived in Saudi, I liked wearing an abaya. Stopped any pervy male gaze, and meant we could wear any old thing underneath (surprisingly freeing). I can see why they are popular. The critical difference being it should be a choice, not a direction. Which it almost always is.

Honestly, probably not and I think the UK has enough issues without adding yet another doomed, costly project to the list.
Also, the population of Afghanistan is 45 million - how do we decide which women to help?

On a practical note, I would like to see more publicity about Katy Lam’s bill which will require public authorities to collect and data about crime, ethnicity and visa status. This information will strengthen the case for illegal immigration to be dealt with urgently. This won’t change anything on its own but the data, if collected, will allow even more pressure to build and I expect it will generate a lot of headlines and headaches for the government.

When I visited Saudi, albeit around 10 years ago, I made the mistake of not wearing an abaya down to breakfast in the western five star hotel where I was staying. I was wearing long sleeves and a skirt down over my ankles and thought it would be ok for breakfast. I was wrong! I was warned by my local colleague that the religious police could come in and beat me, and swiftly went back to my room to put on my abaya. I found the whole trip really upsetting. Of course the western men with me were all fine in their western dress.

Yes, I think it was pre-MBS when women couldn’t even ride bicycles. I was only allowed to sit in restaurants or the areas in the hotel where there was a ‘Family’ sign, otherwise I wasn’t allowed to sit. Men were allowed to sit anywhere. I think I had been naive about the extreme segregation, but also this reverse scenario where I couldn’t really do anything without express permission. What was also weird was that in my client’s office no one wore abayas and women seemed to be treated more equally than men. I found it very confusing and just horrible knowing I had no rights, men could come along and beat me and in every way I was a second class citizen.
