To think.that people continuing to put up tatty flags on lamposts are imposing on communities?
There are people putting them up again near roads. They hang by a thread eventually causing a clear hazard. It looks disrespectful and costs money to make safe. And the intention looks less and less like they give a fig for anyone especially in diverse places.
Everywhere has a civic hub where flags are flown properly at the proper time.

So now anyone who supports flying flags has the "wrong" views on immigration? (in your opinion). How ridiculous you are. Like most people, I support legal immigration but think we should stop letting in 100s of undocumented males from cultures where women are second class citizens.

Absolutely nothing wrong with being patriotic. Absolutely everything wrong with putting cheap plastic Chinese made flags on lampposts that look incredibly tatty, make an area look chavvy and waste public resources taking them down.

I don't at all, it was entirely the specific tone of the posters 'gosh no our flags are a beauteous delight' feigned innocence.

The problem in the UK actually is that the union jack has been so massively used to present views of xenophobia and colonialism that it's hard to separate out. Anyone who actually wants to feel a positive identity with their flag should be as horrified as the rest of us at the xenophobic hijacking.

Could have been celebrating their country's flag for years, nice flagpole in the garden, raised on St George's Day, the jubilee, England getting to the final stages of a sporting tournament.
