Anyone else sad summer is drawing to a close?

I’ve had a great summer - loads of memories with our daughter (3), playing in the garden daily and trips in the sun.

I already feel sad it’s coming to a close - I like the Christmas build up in December but apart from that I really struggle with the grey days and know I’ll be reminiscing loads for summer 😥

I can’t wait to see the back of this summer! It’s been awful. Way too hot to enjoy it. Bring on those crisp autumn days.

Not me. I've just about had enough of the relentless heat. As someone who takes several medications that affect my ability to cool down,I welcome the cooler weather. I really have not enjoyed a lot of this summer,I've had to cancel so many appointments and plans because I can't cope with going out in temperatures over 30 degrees. I love autumn,it's my favourite time of year,so bring it on!

Not to mention it costs a fortune in heating bills

Yes I’m already dreading that!

Yes I’ve got that melancholy feeling, a bit sad that summer is coming to an end. Not sure why, as it feels like it’s been summer for ages, and there have certainly been weeks when it’s been too hot for me. But I’m retired, nothing pressing to do so I got a bit of a routine around closing windows and lying down by the fan in the coolest room in the middle of the afternoon. I’ve been lucky too that the two separate times I’ve been away, the weather at my destinations was a lot cooler than at home, so escaped two of the 30+ weeks.

I think I’m missing that feeling of excitement that came with a new term, a new start in September. It looks like we have a nice few days coming up, but even now there is an autumnal feel in the air.

I’ve definitely felt 2020 vibes from some posters on MN every time someone has dared to say they have enjoyed the heatwave.

Yes, I don’t mind the dark mornings as I’m not an early riser, but I hate it when it gets dark at 4 pm.

I feel really sad. I loved the hot summer - the temperatures and the warm, long evenings. I’m dreading ever decreasing temperatures as I really feel the cold - am chilly today and it’s 21 degrees. The dark and the longest school term - hate it! I’m going to try and be a bit more positive than this post suggests but even thinking about it is making me struggle

YABVU. It’s not autumn until September 21st.

And frankly, after the 36 degree heat we’ve had for weeks this year, autumn can’t come soon enough.

Im dreading winter...i live in summer dresses and flip flops and love the hot weather....everyone seems happier and life is better...dreading the cold grey drizzly days that are coming.

To clarify here - I’m not meaning from the posters who live in overheated flats with no garden - I felt for you in lockdown and I’ve felt for you this summer.

I hate the end of summer. The nights already getting darker earlier make me so sad. I love the outside living and light nights we’ve had this summer.

I have voted YABU because we are likely to have another 6-8 weeks of heatwave before this is over.

I had the best summer ever and we didn't even go away. I started working a term time job this year so I've had the whole summer off with my DD. It has just been fantastic not having to worry about rain. Granted it was too hot at times. But I'm going to remember this summer forever. I'm not looking forward to going back to the school and work routine.

Me! It's the first summer I've felt this way in a good few years, I'm usually looking forward to Autumn and more predictably with the weather but this summer had been beautiful! I've had a few weeks off work which all fell when we had nice weather (very unusual for me) and it's felt like being on holiday. Lots of beach walks, garden days with the paddling pool out, picnics. I've loved it.

I've found the summer tough going at times as it is so draining but I prefer constant heat not a couple of days here or there then rain then nice .
I have been able to dry washing outdoors, come autumn it'll need planned so someone is in to rescue it , or hang over the heated rails.
I'm not built for summer clothes, A/W disguises much better.
Not a fan of going to and from work in the dark with the utter gits who don't put their lights on. Dark cars, grey or silver . Most have automatic headlights ( mine does) but you need to physically switch on the rear lights .
Always a reminder I'm a season closer to death .
But autumn, September through to Hallowe'en, then Guy Fawkes and Christmas.
January not a favourite month but plan how to get through it.

The weather in NI has been poor. Not hot, not sunny. I’m dreading the winter. By about March I’m so pissed off with it. Plus I see with El Niño it’s going to be a crap autumn.

Yes there's a 5th heatwave promised and we always get the "Indian Summer"
