To report my colleagues fantasy football team name?

We have a work fantasy football league, it’s advertised on the internal intranet site and emails were sent around about sign up details etc.

The league has gone live tonight so you can see everyone’s team including their team names.

A colleague has a team name which references stopping the boats - would it be wrong of me to report this?

If you don’t already know, then any explanation will be lost on you.

I can think of a few possible arguments, but I don’t want to assume that I know what you think.

He probably is racist, it would be naive to think otherwise. But don't we all want the boats stopped. They are run by violent criminals and people are getting killed.

@MouthOfTheThamesand @LuckyHazelFoxthank you although not a story 😊 the colleague follows vile racist parties Reform and Restore those colleagues thought it was hilarious as he spouts out quite nasty stuff when drunk and says he would have been a perfect candidate for Hitler Youth (that is the racist part)…he has had warnings about making offensive comments in addition to misogynistic comments on nights out. He is one of the MDs nephew so awkward all round and I suspect why he hasn’t had his arse handed to him.

Of course ‘the boats’ are an issue the majority of people desperate and fleeing from horrendous situations with no safe passage many exploited and Governments past and present not willing to work together with other Governments because of greedy fat cat contracts/brown envelopes left right and centre. The Governments over many years could do something about it but chooses not to and is more focused on creating division and lining their pockets out of situation that has caused so much hate and division.

There are plenty of other names he could have chosen for a football name and he deliberately chose that. Just like my DHs colleague plenty of other names they could have chosen but chose to call him that and in public. In a way I’m glad as exposes more of these types to avoid.

That as a sentence is not inappropriate or offensive? You are assuming your colleague is trying to be political and choosing to interpret that as inappropriate/racist.

Report it in the game if you are that bothered. Getting someone disciplined over an app game is wild.

People do express political opinions at work. You can talk about anti racism at work. How do you know which opinions are allowed and which are verboten in a work setting?

I work in HR and if I was contacted by a colleague about an off-colour FF team name I'd genuinely think they'd lost their mind.

Yet posters like @MouthOfTheThames and those posters who agree, know exactly what the reference is.

That wouldn’t go down well in my public sector role. I wouldn’t bother reporting. They can just show who they are themselves.

Because to me (a Remainer goodthinker), reporting him to HR for his politics looks like straight-up ideologically motivated victimisation.

This is a legal, mainstream party and position we are discussing.

If Nigel stopped the boats he’d be doing a terrifically good thing for everyone. It’s a good name for a team, it’s uplifting.
