To report my colleagues fantasy football team name?

Hulkins87 · 21/08/2026 20:56

We have a work fantasy football league, it’s advertised on the internal intranet site and emails were sent around about sign up details etc.

The league has gone live tonight so you can see everyone’s team including their team names.

A colleague has a team name which references stopping the boats - would it be wrong of me to report this?

It's their personal opinion.
Can you explain to us why you think it's inapproproate?

Because there is bound to be some screeching lefite objecting . You know the type, refugees welcome but not anywhere near my town. And considering people have been arrested for having legitimate opinions, you cant be too careful

MaeshoweDragon · 22/08/2026 10:25

I like a work based fantasy football, also anything else that requires you to choose or create your own username.

It very quickly let's you know who you are working with.

Casual racism is OK as long as it's not too direct?

It’s the policy of all mainstream parties, and a lot of humanitarian charities, and the large majority of the population.

A tiny tiny tiny fraction of any race you mention has ever crossed in a small boat or ever would. It’s both reckless and illegal.

It’s like calling me racist if I say I oppose shoplifting. It reveals your own assumptions.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 22/08/2026 10:32

It's probably a joke relating to someone. You don't even understand the context. Plus people are entitled to their opinion. It's a political opinion not a targeted or bigoted point. You would make such a fool of yourself if you report this.

Nobody told me anything. Im not suggestible or gullible and i have no agenda. I speak as i find.
We are on a thread about a man who can't even participate in workplace FF without having to bring in immigration. On the same thread, people can't even comment about whether political statements are appropriate in the workplace without using it as an opportunity to bang their own drum about immigration. This crosses from ordinary people being 'concerned' to it being obsessive. Most people are concerned. Most people don't feel the need highlight this one issue incessantly.

Edited

Do you go on lots of threads about immigration to tell people it’s obsessive to talk about immigration? 😂

NigeWillStopThem

I assume AndyWillSaveUs or KemiForTheWin or (back in the day) OhJeremyCorbyn would be fine?

If so, what basis for seeking to punish Nigel supporters?

The party is legal and mainstream. The policy is shared by all major parties.

It looks most like ideologically-motivated harassment.

(And, as I always seem to end up saying, I’m no fan of Reform. But democracy and pluralism are fundamental, not just conveniences for when it suits your own team).

No, it isn't.

Reform voter?

Think Jason Arday was a fake?

It’s so bizarre, and so offensive to the people who have lost their lives or had their lives ruined, that people are still coming on to threads to claim these attacks aren’t happening.

When I look at his ugly face I want to vomit.
Vile piece of excrement.

Poor Rhiannon. And her poor mum and son.

God this all makes me so angry!

But yes, we must report anyone who dares to object to this.

Agree. If people aren't strong willed and single minded enough to stay loyal to their vote, they are mugs. No adult should be telling another how to exercise their democratic vote.

Voted Labour last time on local issues. Remainer. Centre-right liberal. Think a Reform govt would probably be disastrous.

Think that reporting colleagues to HR for their (legal, mainstream) political views is abhorrent.

What’s your view on that issue?

Ismellarathmmm · 22/08/2026 10:51

@Hulkins87 So you're not a fan of Nigel Farrage and you want to cause a problem for someone who is.

Free speech in this country (supposedly), read it, inwardly groan, and move on. Then focus your energies on something actually important.

Where's the nuance and critical thinking? You have to be a Reform voter to believe Arday was a fake (which he was).

"NigeWillStopThem"

I don't see how this is offensive, if HR says anything they could say it's referring to another Nige anyway, it was quite a popular name in the 70s and 80s. Or they could be referring to Labour by "them" and the next general election. They haven't actually called themselves "stoptheboats" which isn't offensive anyway, it's topical at the moment and a common held opinion. It isn't racist to want to stop these people coming in. I'm all for skilled migration through legal channels, something needs to be done to stop these people though.

luckylavender · 22/08/2026 11:05

To be fair it doesn’t actually mention boats. Which makes it worse. Don’t know what your workplace culture is like but it’s got nothing to do with football.

Totally agree. Not a peep from Starmer and his acolytes.
Now we are at a stage of having print leaflet in many different languages politely asking these undocumented men not to rape women, and that sex with children is illegal.
Jesus fucking christ on a 3 wheeler bike. What must the rest of the world think of us?
Its so fucking embarrassing 😳

To be fair, this is a Europe wide problem and not just happening in the UK, so I don’t think you need to be embarrassed.

But I agree with what you’re saying. And the silence from the top when it comes to any crimes perpetrated by asylum seekers/ illegal immigrants is disturbing.

I think the laugh emoji is actually on you tbh. This isn't a thread about immigration. It's a thread about reporting a colleague for an inappropriate team name. No clue from the title what the name even was when I opened the thread.
