I’m guessing it’s most likely because of the amount of school shootings they have over there. That’s why princess Beatrice stepson goes to school in the uk. MM has paid her respects after there has been shootings there.

Looks like they can’t afford to keep the house in Montecito, losing it would be a bad news story & damage her brand of course. Moving to the UK removes the problem & saves face. Just imagine how wonderful their lives could be in the UK.
They could move into a lovely secluded mansion in the Cotswolds, say, with a pool, a tennis court, stables and acres of land. Harry could concentrate on building a useful charitable programme eg helping veterans. Meghan could expand As Ever into a bigger, luxury lifestyle brand because she would be more Royal adjacent again, but she would be subtle about this and she would take advice from business people and marketing experts who knew how to make the venture work.
Archie and Lilibet could go to a prestigious prep school in the area.
They could get to know their grandfather (the king) and the rest of the extended royal family, who would be wary and distrustful of the grown up Sussexes but fine with the children.
The Sussexes would get to attend Royal family events like Christmas at Sandringham and summer holidays in Balmoral. Everyone would be super polite towards them for fear of any indiscretions being leaked to the media - so it would all be really fake - but the whole Sussex family could then unwind by escaping for private holidays at their house in a millionaire’s enclave in Portugal.
They could also make regular visits back to California to visit their grandmother Doria and their old friends from back when they lived in the USA.
Back in Britain, they could rebuild bridges with the old friends they previously dropped by hosting dinner parties, family Sunday lunches, bbqs etc every weekend. This would not be too exhausting as they would have plenty of staff like a housekeeper, cleaner, gardener, nanny etc to help - perhaps the staff could live in cottages in the grounds or in the nearest village?
The Sussexes would treat the media with respect and expect the same in return and, if they did not always receive this, they would shrug their shoulders and laugh it off - because it wouldn’t make any material difference to their perfect lives anyway. Aah, what bliss!

Yeah based on experiences in real life with ultra wealthy people, they rarely give up their home immediate after an international relocation. They always announce to everyone that they're keeping their property but it gets discreetly put on the market a year or two after they move.

To be fair, if Kate were a male consort she'd still be expected to be subdued. Consorts are meant to support, not have the starring role.

She is an actress, why would it be odd for an actress to have an acting job lined up? Im sure if she didnt have a job she would get slated for being lazy and doing nothing, but because she has found herself a role doing what she has done prior to marriage thats also an issue? Theere’s a pressure on authorities to release Prince Harry’s visa application to verify if he lied about his drug use on the form and whether he lied or not, because of he mentioned his drug use in his book spare, there’s a pressure to deport him. Court cases have been filed to get his application released in public. Or maybe Charles is not well, and Harry wants to spend time with father.

Whatever the reason is, I think it’s a good idea for the sake of the children. Imagine growing up knowing that you’re part of the royal family of a country that you’ve barely seen, and knowing that your grandfather is the king but you’ve hardly met him. Additionally, Charles isn’t going to live forever and I’m sure he’d like to get to know Harry and Meghan’s children while he can.

I don’t know if this is true or not, but I read that the late Queen told Meghan that she should feel free to keep acting if she wanted to. I’m not a fan of Meghan or Harry, but I don’t have a problem with this.

Piers Morgan predicted that Meghan Markle would destroy Prince Harry’s ties to the British monarchy, warning from as early as 2020 that their independent commercial path marked the "beginning of the end" for the institution. Looks back it looks like his prediction was true. Hopefully, things will get better.
