To think that Harry and Megan's return to the UK has everything to do with money running out?

That really. I mean it's not like they are loved here whether it comes to family or the public. I think Harry might genuinly want to live in England whereas his wife is looking for the attention and money.

Emigrating and private schools are always the biggest signs of poverty.

Maybe they just didn't want their children to get shot a school.

Moknicker · 20/08/2026 18:51

I was on the Jason thread bemoaning the racism in hindsight and saddened to see the same viciousness here for Meghan and by association, Harry.

It is hard to see how he can retract all the nasty ( but maybe true ) things he has said publicly about his family . Camilla now knows how he feels about her , nobody wants to be called evil. He has accused his brother of hitting him, revealed the bridesmaid disagreement. Meghan in interviews has been lying , disrespectful even of the Queen.

To be fair , Meghan had no idea what was expected of her or the protocols . Unlike Catherine who had years to learn and knew what the RF had been like .

I don't know how Meghan will acclimate herself this time . Previously she had great goodwill as a breath of fresh air in the RF . Her subsequent behavior, failed money making schemes and total indiscretion has made her look so bad . In the PR business of the RF perception is everything.

I guess any Megxit deal can be altered by Charles . I had thought that they rejected titles for themselves and their kids . They probably should look to Edward who is the Kings brother as the way to conduct themselves .

It will be an absolute train crash with briefings to the press, complaints about their treatment, grabbing the limelight, inappropriate behaviour. In other words it will be the same as before. Only much worse.

And you know this, how?

Wholeheartedly agree. I’d hazard a guess it’s always white folk claiming nobody is racist against Meghan, she’s just a terrible person! She has done literally nothing to offend or upset anyone publicly that I’m aware of and last time I checked she was not a murderer so unless I’m missing something…

BasiliskStare · 20/08/2026 19:15

Do you really believe that? I mean if you do , you do. Fair play. I personally don't.

paddleboardingmum · 20/08/2026 19:22

Of course she hasn't done anything wrong, definitely not to warrant the level of very weird hatred she gets. It's impossible not to see racism as a factor in it.

Its so strange isnt it?
The mere mention of them is like a red rag to a bull
With posters piling on and making stuff up that they imagine they have done.

So what has she done to offend the average person in the UK?

Certainly I can't think of anything that she has done that has caused more embarrassment to the Royal Family than the King himself, but you can't look for fairness in an institution that is fundamentally not fair.

As a foreigner, can she just come here? Won't harry have to prove he earns more than 40k a year?

You can use 2.5 x 40k of savings instead

IberianLynx · 20/08/2026 19:47

If they are buying a house in the Cotswolds that is the size that they are used to, I don’t think that would it be cheaper. I imagine that Harry is driving the move because he misses the status and wants his kids in the system so that they benefit. I am pleased that they are back and am fascinated how they get on. In a couple of months it will be raining, grey everyday. Be interesting to see if Megan and the kids like it!

Robogob · 20/08/2026 19:50

Maybe there were loads of snakes and lizards etc in Montecito? Although there are snakes in the Lake District now. If I were them I’d get an apartment in New York or London. Both, actually.

BEAchDays2 · 20/08/2026 20:13

@BasiliskStare yes, what has she actually done?

BasiliskStare · 20/08/2026 20:26

OK here's one example off the top of my head and I fully expect to be shot down in flames as I'm obviously out of kilter with many.
Meghan said ( well she let Oprah say and she said it was a fair assumption) that Archie was not made a Prince upon his birth because of the colour of his skin. This is just not true & I think W was clearly offended by this, judging by his quite unusual "we are very much not a racist family" comment shortly afterwards during a Was I personally offended? , would that be the right word? , maybe more a bit annoyed she felt she could imply such an inaccuracy to a huge audience.

I don't expect to persuade anyone who thinks differently to me btw , I know she elicits strong opinions ( amongst those who have any opinion at all ).

Actually re reading it
I watched the Oprah interview and she didnt say Archie wasent a prince from birth because of his skin colour
What she actually said that there were some concerns raised about how dark his skin would be .

BasiliskStare · 20/08/2026 20:38

Archie was not made a prince at birth because of the rules. I didn't need to be there.

Under a Letters Patent issued by King George V in 1917, the title of Prince or Princess is strictly limited to:

  • The children of the sovereign.
  • The grandchildren of the sovereign through the male line.
  • The eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales (which applied only to Prince George at the time of Archie's birth).
Queen Elizabeth II issued a new Letters Patent in 2012 before Prince George was born. This decree granted the titles of Prince and Princess to all children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales (Prince William).
  • William's Line: As the future King's eldest son, his children were in the direct line of succession.
  • Harry's Line: This exception did not extend to Prince Harry’s children, as they were further down the line of succession.
Because Archie was a great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II, he did not fit these criteria.

As pp said what she actually said was that there were some concerns raised about how dark his skin would be .

How is that offensive to the general public? If what she said isn't true then the only people wronged are the royals.

Pedallleur · 20/08/2026 20:54

Call me crazy but what would happen if they just got no attention. The haters on MN stopped looking at them and the Press found nothing to write about. They are just a young wealthy couple so let them go about their lives. Of course it relies on them to keep themselves private. My only gripe would be the taxpayer funding their security. If H&M want a private life let them have itl

ThankYouNigel · 20/08/2026 20:55

YANBU- I agree with you.

Pedallleur · 20/08/2026 20:55

Double post there

BasiliskStare · 20/08/2026 20:56

@x2boys - Actually you are right , I'm wrong - she didn't say it explicitly but I think from below ( both quotes from her and I think as far as plausible deniability can take you ) to me the impression she was giving was that him not being a prince at birth was closely linked to his skin colour. Maybe I'm wrong. It's my opinion based on my impression. What more can I say?

"And that was when they were saying they didn’t want him to be a prince or a princess — not knowing what the gender would be, which would be different from protocol" ...."But I can give you an honest answer. In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time . . . so we have in tandem the conversation of ‘He won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born."
