AIBU to think if we need to politely ask men not to rape women (or men), then we don't want such people in the UK?

Don't rape, sexually assault or make kissing noises' at people, asylum seekers warned in guidance about living in UK
UK arrivals have been told to treat women equally, not sexually assault partners or have sex with children in a new Home Office pamphlet. As well as the guidebook, a series of posters have also been designed by the government.

Now you're comparing other races to dogs?

Is this really happening?

No, but I also wouldn’t consider holidaying in the US, Latin America or Bulgaria either. So what does that tell you?

I've holidayed to the USA. So have my DC. It's fine. I'll be back in a few months.

LadybirdZombieApocalypse · 19/08/2026 21:59

If anyone has ever spent time in Egypt or other Middle Eastern countries knows the men are very different in how they treat women. We have our own problems and don’t need more importing.

RoseandVioletCreams · 19/08/2026 21:57

We surely don't need more evidence that many men would.behave badly if they can.
We've all seen the case of the drugged french lady raped by hundred of men because ...they could. We've seen the jounrno pretend to be drunk /semi conscoious and be hounded by men.

We know most attacks on all accounts are by men to women.

One can't imagine how much more awful it is in cultures where women don't even have the law on their side or the attempt at equality that we have .

Exactly. Horrific.

So, going by the stats, we should be banning Indians, Romanians and Poles? Though none of them are asylum seekers? Or Islamic countries.

Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran were wonderful countries to visit and live in until…the West and its allies raped and pillaged them for their own ends. Go and do some research about the history of these countries before the UK and the US got their hands on them from the mid twentieth century onwards.

If the west is so bad, in the multiple ways you’ve listed, why stay?

Hang on

Women in Afghanistan in the 30s and 40s had to wear a full face covering and be covered from head to toe

The schools from the 1920s were closed

They had no rights, basically

What are you talking about? I'm genuinely confused. What was good about Afghanistan before the 1950s

Should we not lock our doors at night because most men aren't burglars?

Well no, but there's an enormous difference between making decisions on behalf of yourself and your own family/household vs making decisions on behalf of an entire nation/population.

I don't want random children or kittens in my house either, that's got nothing to do with perceived harm or the fact that I believe "safe" countries should offer refuge to those who need it.

The ins and outs of how we do that, and how we do it safely, can (and should) of course be debated. But I think to ban every asylum seeking male would be to abandon our humanity somewhat. Albeit I do understand people's hurt and anger.

'Asylum seekers banned from being housed near schools
New rules brought in by Shabana Mahmood

This comes amid a series of rapes and sex assaults by migrants. Figures obtained by The Telegraph last year showed the number of sexual offence convictions of foreigners had increased by 62 per cent in four years.'

Why is that? Are British families allowed to live near schools? Why is that?

I didn't know she'd done that. So they clearly know there is an issue with migrants and children. She will definitely have the figures of crimes committed.

Right so let's deal with our problems of misogyny and rape and not be distracted to hate minorities

You are saying to can’t ban a whole entity. I gave an alternative as to why you can, based on characteristics and stats and the danger posed due to the former.

I wonder how many asylum-seeking men commit crime in the UK in order to be detained. Life in a UK prison could be far better than life where they came from.

Plus you then can't be deported if the country of origin has the death penalty for rape.

where domestic violence is legalised

Like the UK?
When I lived in England, my British Ex attacked me, I called the police in England. They arrested him for DV on the spot based on my injuries. Took him away in handcuffs. Hours later they let him go and even gave him a lift to my doorstep. I had to let him in or he would have broken in. My theory is that as he was a royal marine he managed to charm and blag his way out of being charged. With the usual women, they can wind you up.

No. Just take any women and children who make it to the UK. Humanity preserved. The men should remain, and work to fix their countries for as long as it takes. If they don't, then who will? It'll only get worse and worse.

Mumterz · 19/08/2026 22:03

Limeandfigs · 19/08/2026 21:57

Lots of Afghanis will have done "one okay thing". So all good then, right? We can handwave away any offending in the past? Yes?

You need to make your mind up.

Either a) someone's past can be forgiven if they've done "one okay thing", or b) regardless of their past if they're even associated with someone who's committed an offence or a country you consider bad then they're dangerous and should be banned.

I rather suspect on which side you fall depends on the colour of the skin of the person you're judging.

Afghani men pose a larger risk so makes sense not to allow them in. As I said. The US government has a blanket ban on a wide range of passports holders entering

Sudan and Eritrea are literally war zones.

foreign office advice is do not travel. Neighbouring Ethiopia which is generally pretty safe has lots of restrictions due to the civil wars in neighbouring countries.

it is interesting through how people have very different attitudes to Muslim countries.

Dubai, which is Muslim and where sex outside marriage is actually illegal is often held up by people as a great place to go and live. Lots of families and single people go and live there - and you won’t hear anyone saying that men from Dubai have appalling attitudes to women and sexually assault them.

Afghanistan, which many Muslims regard as a total shithole where the people cannot even begin to be good Muslims is excoriated by British people when many Afghani men have exactly the same attitude to women that men from Dubai have.

The rules on sex outside of marriage have been loosened. If you’re both over 18 you’ll be fine as long as there’s not an issue with adultery.

I’ve seen a reasonable amount of negative stories about Dubai. So some people are aware. That’s why I don’t want to go. I appreciate many aren’t aware and they’re usually the people who go to the police there after a married man has assaulted them or their same sex partner, and then they find out what the country is really like.

Wait for the sea of ‘but white British men rape you anyway’ as some sort of excuse as to justify letting men in from misogynistic cultures and from countries no woman would go anywhere near. Every thread.

The west has been intervening in Afghanistan for a lot longer than that.

Dr Watson who is in the Sherlock Holmes stories was wounded in an Afghan war and that was in Victorian times.

The first British Invasion of Afghanistan was in 1839

Limeandfigs · 19/08/2026 21:41

You do realise there are many Afghanis (to use an example from this thread) who are decent people, yes? You can't possibly assume they are all dangerous rapists, that they are all "even worse".

It is the assumption that all Afghanis (for example) are dangerous and must be barred from entering the country which is the racist part.

The Afghanistan example is particularly pertinent given how many of them put themselves and their families at risk to help British service personnel during the wars.

Per German stats, they're around 16x more likely to rape than a Germsn man.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Things are bad in the UK yes, but things are catastrophically worse in other countries. In Sudan for example there are armed paramilitary groups who go around raping young girls at gunpoint.

South Africa is horrendous for rape. Super high and men openly admit to it in surveys.

I've heard this view a lot and I think people who hold it might feel differently if it were their son.

Besides, the journey many take to get to the UK can be strenuous and many women and children are uneducated and illiterate. Many would not make it without a male.
