AIBU to think if we need to politely ask men not to rape women (or men), then we don't want such people in the UK?

Don't rape, sexually assault or make kissing noises' at people, asylum seekers warned in guidance about living in UK
UK arrivals have been told to treat women equally, not sexually assault partners or have sex with children in a new Home Office pamphlet. As well as the guidebook, a series of posters have also been designed by the government.

The government know the risks but they are more than willing to play roulette with the safety of women and girls in the UK, if a sexual assault (or worse) happens by a foreign national, the government will say “oh well we tried” doesn’t matter if that girl life is ruined forever, unforgivable.

I'm sorry you've been raped. Did you live in Britain as a child?

Yes, unsure why that matters?? And don't say sorry, you're not sorry, you would only feel something if they weren't British.

Where would you rather your DD (if you had one) go ok holiday? Lisbon or Kabul? Where are the men more likely to respect her?

That aside how safe would you feel in Afghanistan?

Under the Taliban?

Why do you think people flee from there?

Consent is different from dragging a woman or girl to the ground and raping her. I doubt that is legal anywhere in the world tbh.

There are cases in India and Pakistan (the tribal areas) where gang rape of a woman has been ordered by village courts.
officially under the Indian law this is illegal but it seems to happen relatively frequently.

see eg

West Bengal gang rape: Supreme Court orders probe into 'disturbing' case

India's Supreme Court orders a judge to investigate the gang rape of a tribal woman, allegedly on orders of village elders who objected to her relationship with a man.

Would you consider holidaying in Sudan, Afghanistan, Eritrea? If not why not.

No, but I also wouldn’t consider holidaying in the US, Latin America or Bulgaria either. So what does that tell you?

Because there are many more British men in Britain. So a person is more likely to be raped by one. To put it horribly bluntly.

They are obviously not any worse to holiday as a woman to than Spain or France

In Islam, forced violent or abusive sexual relations in marriage are forbidden. Islamic principles specifically prohibit a husband from using force, coercion or violence against his wife. "La dharar wa la dhirar" (there shall be no inflicting of harm or returning of harm ") applies to sexual relations in marriage.

I don't pretend to know the details of anyone else else's religion

However, the following countries do not criminalise rape within a marriage, I think - there might be more

Algeria
Egypt
Iran
Iraq
Jordan
Kuwait
Libya
Morocco
Saudi Arabia
Somalia
Sudan
Syria
Yemen

Aside from a house swap for the few who think we have it worse, most are a bit more aware.

For those who would swap there’d be many women with daughters who would take their place in an instant.

Things in the UK and UK Europe can be bad.... What don't people understand that in other parts of the world things are astronomically worse??? What do you just not understand?

Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran were wonderful countries to visit and live in until…the West and its allies raped and pillaged them for their own ends. Go and do some research about the history of these countries before the UK and the US got their hands on them from the mid twentieth century onwards.

Looking at the numbers of Afghanis given asylum in Europe and the UK, every person in Afghanistan was either an interpreter, or otherwise assisting the Allied Forces. Literally hundreds of thousands of them. How come the Taliban won? The math is not mathing. The numbers don't add up.

I don’t have a link (before someone asks me), but I have read of several cases of Afghani interpreters appearing in court on various charges, and themselves requiring interpreters. Make it make sense.

Mumterz · 19/08/2026 21:52

Trump is a bad man. But that US gov did seek to arrest and prosecute Epstein in 2019.

But at least they did one okay thing.

Lots of Afghanis will have done "one okay thing". So all good then, right? We can handwave away any offending in the past? Yes?

You need to make your mind up.

Either a) someone's past can be forgiven if they've done "one okay thing", or b) regardless of their past if they're even associated with someone who's committed an offence or a country you consider bad then they're dangerous and should be banned.

I rather suspect on which side you fall depends on the colour of the skin of the person you're judging.

OtterlyAstounding · 19/08/2026 21:57

Limeandfigs · 19/08/2026 21:41

You do realise there are many Afghanis (to use an example from this thread) who are decent people, yes? You can't possibly assume they are all dangerous rapists, that they are all "even worse".

It is the assumption that all Afghanis (for example) are dangerous and must be barred from entering the country which is the racist part.

The Afghanistan example is particularly pertinent given how many of them put themselves and their families at risk to help British service personnel during the wars.

No. It's not race, it's culture and socialisation.

I'd think white men raised in Afghanistan are greater risks, and conversely I'd think men whose Afghani grandparents legally emigrated to the UK, so have been raised by parents raised in the UK, are not a greater risk.

I can assume that socialisation affects all people, and so those who grow up in an environment where women are considered significantly lesser than men, and it's enshrined into the laws and culture, where marital rape is still not even a concept, where rape is treated as an offence against the women's male family, where domestic violence is legalised, and so on, are indeed highly likely to view women as lesser and more likely to offend against them.

Why take the risk? Doesn't Britain have enough homegrown abusers to be sorting out? Why import more, who have misogyny ingrained so much more deeply?

RoseandVioletCreams · 19/08/2026 21:57

We surely don't need more evidence that many men would.behave badly if they can.
We've all seen the case of the drugged french lady raped by hundred of men because ...they could. We've seen the jounrno pretend to be drunk /semi conscoious and be hounded by men.

We know most attacks on all accounts are by men to women.

One can't imagine how much more awful it is in cultures where women don't even have the law on their side or the attempt at equality that we have .

I think they’re referring to foreigners from Romania and Poland which per your stats are much more likely to rape than foreigners from any of those countries.

Their attitude to women was the same then as now. Do your research.
