AIBU to think if we need to politely ask men not to rape women (or men), then we don't want such people in the UK?

Don't rape, sexually assault or make kissing noises' at people, asylum seekers warned in guidance about living in UK
UK arrivals have been told to treat women equally, not sexually assault partners or have sex with children in a new Home Office pamphlet. As well as the guidebook, a series of posters have also been designed by the government.

This lovely man is on his way to enrich Edinburgh! Although his interests are somewhat limited to "fucking", according to the man himself.

I’m sure someone will come along and say ‘someone must have tricked him when teaching him English and told him that word means ‘work’’

So do you think then that the assaults/rapes that take place are a small price to pay for saving the men who claim asylum here?

No. I believe in innocent until proven guilty, but harsher punishment when proven guilty.

Do you think the leaflet is a good idea or unnecessary, given the majority are upstanding individuals?

A good idea, but insufficient on its own.

Do you believe that cultural differences is a reasonable defence?

No.

The first question isn’t really answered, is it the price worth paying? As you can’t reverse a crime after it’s happened.

Exactly. Harsher punishment is all very well, but it's already too late at that point - a woman or girl has been raped.
If the perpetrator wasn't here in the first place, the incident would not have occured.

I realise I automatically typed perpetrator singular - but it's often a group, which is a horror by itself.

I am not under that misapprehension, nor am I under the misapprehension that we could just reject or ignore those laws without serious negative consequences.

You’re missing countries that have stopped crossings without much happening other than an electorate who will never vote otherwise.

We’d be the same if we ever got over division on whether these crimes are worth it.

No I wouldn't describe it as a "price worth paying," it's unacceptable. But you're using emotive language to describe one side of a difficult balance.

I'm sure people who have been tortured in Iranian prisons and try to get here would ask if their life is a price worth paying for our borders to be closed. It's the same question.

I don't claim to have all the answers, but I don't value the life of a person less if he doesn't hail from the same country as I do.

You might actually be surprised to read my opinions on immigration detention and deportation, but honestly, I don't really want to participate in this thread much more given the tone it's taken (I don't mean you personally, just generally).

Ok up to you. I will say though my take is another system where we give humanitarian visas based on checks.

So you can take some people but first making sure you can protect women and girls here too.

You seem to be under the misapprehension that ‘international laws’ are as binding and immutable as laws of nature, rather than being just agreements we can reject or ignore if they’re not in our national interests.

We are not morally responsible for sheltering every random bloke from some violent, misogynistic shit hole of a country who chooses to rock up here.

Correct. If international law insists that we must flood our country with rapists, murderers and nonces from the third world AND pay billions upon billions of pounds for the privilege I think it can get fucked frankly. It is a ludicrous demand.

Your Iranian prisoners can choose from the hundreds of other countries available, it isn't a choice between Britain and death.

Iranian prisoners are unlikely to get out sadly.

They don’t get much choice, it wouldn’t be our borders that stop them but the people in the prison.

I think the public might accept vetted, capped, more women, but only just because the longer they are gaslit by politicians the more likely they’ll say stop it all.

I agree on your other post, international law has become a way to say to women you’re irrelevant.

I'm open to a sensible and safe policy on asylum seekers in the future, but not until we've cleared out the ones who we've so far failed to deport (probably over a million at this point) and reversed the Boris Wave.

Menopausalsourpuss · Yesterday 10:47

This whole leaflet is pathetic. I can guarantee it won't be used to stop rapists saying they didn't know the law as they will just pretend they couldn't speak English so didn't understand it. Even if its translated into multiple languages they'll pretend they can't read. Other countries have no trouble protecting their borders and don't provide hotels etc. What the f is wrong with our leaders, judiciary etc?

But they are doing it because they want to do it, wilfully ignoring the wishes of the majority.

Revolutions have been started for less.

That's a good lesson in not believing all you read in the papers (and other media), isn't it?

I've often been told some shocking thing, usually by my mother in law, done a bit of fact checking, and found out it's an interesting mix of half-truth and utter bollocks. When I discuss it with her, and point out that there were errors, incorrect conclusions, stats misleadingly presented etc, she just shrugs and says "Oh, I didn't know that".

Fuck knows where she gets her news from.

Cool condescension.

A lot of white British males will need deporting if we follow your premise.

DontBuyAnotherBook · Yesterday 11:59

nocoolnamesleft · 19/08/2026 20:32

Sounds like it needs handing out to the homegrown male population.

Yes but there is a higher chance of assault from men whose countries view women as chattels hence why they are doing this. Unless you are denying it?

Dankanddrear · Yesterday 11:59

This stops the defence that a man from a different culture had no idea that rape was actually a crime in the UK.

It shouldn't be a defence. If it's allowed to be then that needs addressing. I thought ignorance of the law was no defence?

This leaflet won't make a blind bit of difference. If we continue to flood the country with these men then it will be very difficult to stop their cultural norms from bleeding into our culture. I have lived in numerous third world countries and while the majority of people are lovely, things are very different and consequently (as a woman) if you want to stay safe, you have to take precautions, many of which are only available to those who are rich or powerful. I'm talking about having security, or living in compounds, avoiding certain areas, avoiding public transport and using a driver, having clubs exclusively reserved for the "rich" to hang out in. It is foolish to thing that these men will assimilate to our culture as there are too many of them and as a consequence WE are going to have to start living differently. My worry is that it will only be the wealthy who will be able to afford this - i.e. live on private estates with security, have memberships at private clubs, pay for reputable taxi companies to ferry their kids to and from parties, avoid public transport, send their children to private schools so they avoid having to mix with the masses.

You're absolutely right

  • The leaflet won't make any difference. Whatever it's intended purpose - that is irrelevant. The whole point is that this leaflet, and the government stating they won't house migrants / asylum seekers next to schools - is an admission that we have a big problem with predatory males.
  • In future only very wealthy people will be able to avoid the realities pf life that most will be facing day after day.
