AIBU to think if we need to politely ask men not to rape women (or men), then we don't want such people in the UK?

Don't rape, sexually assault or make kissing noises' at people, asylum seekers warned in guidance about living in UK
UK arrivals have been told to treat women equally, not sexually assault partners or have sex with children in a new Home Office pamphlet. As well as the guidebook, a series of posters have also been designed by the government.

And why is rape much lower in Poland where everyone feels safe

Because Poland is quite conservative and Polish men don't quite "get" our rules regarding consent? Poland is a country where if you wear provocative clothing or if you agree to visit a man's house you are "asking for it" and fair game.

Each new generation of men & women need to know the expectations off the society they are entering, whether born in the UK or elsewhere. In the same way as a family going to the US on holiday may not realise that their children can't drink until they are 21 regardless of the law in the UK.

Do you really believe that it's the first thing on the mind of those poor young people claiming asylum?

Poor young people claiming asylum…maybe not. But for the majority of those entering the IK illegally they are here to take what they can from our system and that includes behaving the way they want.

Mumterz · 20/08/2026 07:24

Just don't let them in. Simple. Detain and deport.

Do you understand the issue with country being at war, being very poor, and being "governed" by backward terrorists? Believe me, any country in this situation would not be a place to visit. As an example, you were given Dubai - a country with exact same views of females as Afganistan but "safe" and wealthy.
You also chose to ignore the statistic showing Polish and Romanians committing a high number of sex crimes - both nations are white and Christisn. And, you can visit Poland and Romania for a holiday with zero issues.

Firstly, Dubai is not a country. Second, the UAE does NOT have the same view of females as Afghanistan. What absolute rubbish.

RoseandVioletCreams · 20/08/2026 07:34

@GeneralPeter i don't understand for the life of me why this sort of data wasn't considrered when countries were joining the EU and allowing freemovement. We have seen many cases of girls and women being attacked .

Any county who wanted to join and allow their citizens the privilege of moving about freely should have been made to ensure those citizens were suitable to roam. It's an utter disgrace.

You obviously know quite a few of them personally.

Way to ignore the main point.

I'll simplify it for you:

war poor country= bad, scary, no go, bad man no punishment
no war wealthy country = ok go, bad man follow law

Hope it's clear now

I agree. Horse bolted and stable doors springs to mind. To use another analogy, preventing asylum seekers, with different cultural attitudes to rape, is like herding cats. I can't believe what I'm seeing that the definition of sexual consent has to be pointed out to 'visitors'. Wonder if the elderly man, who was pulled off a bench and buggered, was asked if he was OK with it.

I've been to Dubai on holiday..felt so much safer than London. Most women find it safer than London

That's the leader's daughter.. private family affair. The average British expat will never experience what she did.

Agree - why do people think that? Emirati women holding degrees outnumber men! They're a highly educated population in general, the polor opposite of Afghanistan.

And it's safe despite high levels of immigrants because they do immigration correctly - people come in to work, not sit on benefits, and they're punished and deported if they do break the law.

The actual citizens are looked after and come first, as they should.

EasternStandard · 20/08/2026 07:52

LobeliaBaggins · 20/08/2026 00:39

You could do that, I guess. Might be a bit hard to ban, say, Rishi Sunak's inlaws from visiting the UK on the grounds they might seek asylum.

There's a reason why Trump didn't put S Asia on the list.
But I think you are being facetious.

What are the chances of his inkaws seeking asylum on visiting? They’d be wealthy tourists with whatever documents are required.

It’s worth separating the asylum process and dealing with that.

Edited

They also make up half the workforce or more. I worked with these women, they are absolutely not viewed as women in Afghanistan by their country peers.

Also, maybe a good time to remember UAE stopped sensing their students to UK due to risk of radicalisation.....

Some people were unhappy with the list I came up with....even though that list would help us a lot

Missingmymeds · 20/08/2026 08:00

Sounds like a great idea to me , hopefully the idea will spread and other countries will do the same ...needs to be produced in all languages, handed out in all countries,to all men

It's a pointless idea. THEY KNOW. They just don't view women as human enough to care, and a little leaflet won't change that.

Nope, sorry, still makes no sense.

UAE and Afghanistan have different languages, cultures, histories and geography. They have no real similarities apart from being both Muslim countries. There are many poorer countries that are not as bad as Afghanistan when it comes to women’s rights.

The reason I made that somewhat ludicrous point was that a poster had previously suggested that all travellers from certain countries- India included- should be banned. As Trump has done. Sunak's inlaws, the Murty couple, are- of course- billionaires.

Asylum seekers and legal immigrants have been conflated repeatedly on this thread. ( Send them all back!) And it wasn't me who did that. But yes, let's treat asylum seekers separately because unvetted migration of solitary young men will lead to trouble, certainly.

Yes and we can separate systems so we look at risk. The asylum process lacks any vetting.

UK law regarding rape is applicable to British men (and women). Pitiful leaflets are not necessary.

Fair enough. I think if most people agree there’s an issue as said in your last line it’s a start.

You kept on saying India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.... Are you saying we shouldn't ban or restrict any entry then? Because "what about X Y Z" . We should just let unvetted dangerous men in?
