This is the absolute outlying instance you should turn off notifications in the secret phone, presumably the normal phone would alert so no issues

Yes, Dagenham, Rainham, Romford and Hornchurch have all had more fires in the last week.

The thing is this is fairly flipping obvious and really should have been more of a highlight earlier - like before schools broke up, they should have pulled portable bbqs earlier and any bbq stuff should be age restricted maybe even 25 at the moment. We are planning a bbq on 22nd but am eyeing my garden and hoping for a decent amount of rain before then!

What has happened in Stourbridge is horrific though and we do not what any repeats of that elsewhere. The burnt out buildings are haunting, I really feel for the residents that have liturally lost everything - wont even be refurbished I don't think will be new builds. Do hope they have the right level of insurance etc.

They had a government text thing in covid for information that didn't have a siren with it.

There is now a temporary ban in place by order of emergency.

I’m really glad they did this. I’m a farmer and the 3 farms surrounding us have had wildfires so far this year. One much heap, one silage bale and one discarded glass bottle on a footpath. We are all on constant fire watch with kit hooked up and ready to go. It’s really stressful. Absolute kudos to the firefighters dealing with this stuff daily. They’re incredible.

Then after the alert in my local Facebook page it’s full of people saying bbqs are ok, just not disposable ones, why should we follow a rule, at least the fire service can us a hose etc. People in our locality are randomly lighting fires on footpaths. Apparently it’s a TikTok thing

I don't understand why they have sent this precisely when the heatwave is ending. If it was worth sending the alert, they should have sent it a few days ago. Temperatures are going back to normal in the next few days. Tomorrow's forecast is much lower (London at least)

There never really used to be alarms like this pre Covid, unless it was for a nuclear weapon. Most of us haven’t heard this alert since the test. I think you can understand from this why people are startled.

I was on a train. Everyone's phone went off at once and it was very, very loud.

We too are farmers plus we generate electricity from methane gas and there’s some campers in the opposite field just feet away in a woodland with an open fire. 🤷‍♀️😳😬 we re scared senseless, phoned the fire brigade to be told nothing they can do. Not interested
