Yes, my own mother did, it was rare for father's to get custody too, but my mother just gave up. She then screwed me over to spite my dad and told me I had a different father to the man who I had grown up with. I remained my step father, until he passed in 2018 and I loved him dearly for raising me as his own and I aways called him dad..
