To ask if you think the prime minister has a democratic duty to house asylum seekers in middle class areas

By which I mean, would most voters support this as opposed to a change in policy to refuse in greater numbers? I honestly can't tell what "the majority" actually wants. I would prefer fewer having seen how things went in Germany thanks to the Merkel wave but I am willing to believe I'm a backwards old boomer and a majority would be more welcoming.

They (UK governments) tend to say they have no choice due to the echr but this isn't true. There are a lot of operational choices they could make (eg sometimes when people are denied entry at the border they are actually allowed into the country for a few days and instructed to report back to the airport when it's time for the removal flight).

Did I dream there was some political event recently where countries openly voted against the aspects of the ECHR that were preventing them from dealing with illegal immigration? I was going through a personal drama at the time and didn’t read the article properly, but I recall a load of European party members celebrating and chanting.

Perhaps the fact that they are securing their entire Belarusian border at an enormous costs is enough to give the country some credit for „managing migration”. Oddly, the fence/ wall they have built along the border is not something people talk about much.

Have the “sanctuary cities” in the UK spoken up and asked to welcome the men? They surely would be eager to take them.

There was a fire today at the Holiday Inn in Wembley, which houses asylum seekers. Quite accidental, I’m sure, but guests there have been complaining about the food, and that it’s been two years and they have not been given a house.

Yes. They murdered all three and returned them in coffins after a horrible, mocking, macabre "handing over ceremony".

Right by the stadium - those rooms must sell for a fortune when something is on, so how much taxpayer money is being spent housing them there?

They should be in secure units in the middle of industrial estates or something.

I'm trying to stay away from the news at the moment but obviously things filter through and this was such a huge story that didn't make sense to me and I couldn't face diving back into the doom and gloom we are sold daily.

I didn’t realise they had asylum seekers in Wembley. Isn’t that quite well off as well?

Not all of it, but Wembley Park where the hotel is, is quite expensive due to the proximity to the stadium.
