To ask if you think the prime minister has a democratic duty to house asylum seekers in middle class areas

By which I mean, would most voters support this as opposed to a change in policy to refuse in greater numbers? I honestly can't tell what "the majority" actually wants. I would prefer fewer having seen how things went in Germany thanks to the Merkel wave but I am willing to believe I'm a backwards old boomer and a majority would be more welcoming.

They (UK governments) tend to say they have no choice due to the echr but this isn't true. There are a lot of operational choices they could make (eg sometimes when people are denied entry at the border they are actually allowed into the country for a few days and instructed to report back to the airport when it's time for the removal flight).

The plea from Ilana Gritzewsky to the UN was heartbreaking. No apology, pls look at me. Just so sad.

The Green mayor with the October 7th stunt was also ridiculously cruel.

What a brave woman Ilana is. So many who have dared to speak up and speak out about the events on that horrific day.
Denied by the Green Party spokesperson, and others.

I just think of poor Shani Louk, her broken body paraded on that truck by those animals.
Or those women with bloodied joggers.

I remember a young mother and her two little children being taken away on a motorbike??

They had red hair.

The mother’s face I can still see now.

Heartbreaking.

Of course, the girls and women were lying. Those who survived, that is.

Well, they are Jews. So obviously just trying to get poor innocent little palestinians in trouble.

I believe Jones still writes for the Guardian. Which is one of many reasons I wouldn't even blow my nose on that hateful, bigoted publication.

No indeed. I used to buy it regularly! No more.

Coincidentally, it was their reporting on the asylum seeker Cologne attacks that lost me. I don't think they've improved since.

Remind me which side of the political spectrum are full of hate!

GunnelVallquist · Today 17:13

This is one thing that always makes me want to scratch my head…the left which is all pro immigration, including from countries that hate Jewish people and homosexuals (lesbians etc)

How do you square that one?

So many of the LGBTQ community are on the (far) left of the spectrum.,,do they not see it?

There is a perpetual conflation on these type of threads between immigrants and asylum seekers. This country actively needs immigration we don’t have enough doctors, nurses, social care staff and many other skilled occupations. These immigrants- of whatever nationality or race - pay taxes, that contribute to social benefits such as pensions, schools etc. Asylum seekers are seeking asylum; refuge from war, persecution etc. I’ve met asylum seekers from Syria who underwent horrific torture, rape etc. and who are now contributing to this country by working and being part if our community. Don’t lump everyone together. And please accept that some people are genuinely fleeing appalling situations, and we as an advanced nation have a duty to offer refuge, as we have done for hundreds of years. Look up Belgian refugees in WW1.

We absolutely actively need to support those who are fleeing persecution; you are right. However, how on earth have we got a situation where our education system cannot produce enough skilled labour when so many people are currently unemployed? We should look at our own education system first rather than taking the easy way out and allowing migration in. It’s saddens me enormously that so many young single men are arriving illegally leaving their countries in a dire situation that they could be helping to fix.

Bikenutz · Today 17:15

So what is this ‘backbone’ entailing. How are Poland negotiating the diplomatic, legal and reputational costs? Management of migration is dependent on international cooperation, and this could cause more difficult negotiations with allies, and make the situation worse.

It's like the "Queers for Palestine" placards.
They have no idea. None.
I find it extraordinary how these supposed left wing liberals would support a regime which is fascist, misogynist, homophobic, anti democratic and antisemitic.
Strange bedfellows.

Every single man (immigrant/ asylum seeker whatever) that arrives on these shores (or elsewhere) and tries to BEHEAD a man on the street and gouge his eyes out (for crying out loud!!) is one too many!

If you can’t send them back due to the sea border and all that then keep them LOCKED UP until they have been assessed instead of letting them run free

Although, given that most of them destroy their papers and won’t be on any database (unlike you and me) it might be a pointless exercise anyway.

So just GET RID.

It makes zero sense to me.

Get your backside over there snd live out your queerness openly and see how you’ll be received.

The stupidity is on a scary scale.

7 thousand ? That's a huge group isn't it. Have they intergrated. Well seymour? I do wonder if such large groups even want to ? Need to ?

What’s with the ‘well seymour’? Did you read what was on the link?

I got the numbers from here. It’s been a multicultural, quite deprived area for a long time, but the issues have grown. Efforts have been made to help integration, but there are ongoing and recent events of violence, anti social behaviour etc.

Being virtuous is their biggest driver. Jews don't count, homosexuals being thrown off buildings or hanged are insignificant because it doesn't happen over here. Except that we are importing that very culture without having a say. They make it up as they go along. I wonder how many of them actually love this country because I see them putting everything and anything above its heritage and safety.

There was a terror attack in Germany a few weeks ago and I’ve seen some posts online by LGBTQ groups that insist the danger comes from the ‘far right’.

Despite the fact that the German leader of that so called far right party (sorry her name has escaped me now) is in a same sex relationship!

Come to Rotherham, look a grooming gang victim in the face and call her a Neanderthal you stuck up, Middle Class oxygen thief.

You’re in luck. You’ve got your Rotherham victim here reporting for duty. I mean she can’t look me in the face on Mumsnet but she can call me a Neanderthal if she wants!

What we really need to do, is to remove all incentive to come here in the first place.
