To ask if you think the prime minister has a democratic duty to house asylum seekers in middle class areas

By which I mean, would most voters support this as opposed to a change in policy to refuse in greater numbers? I honestly can't tell what "the majority" actually wants. I would prefer fewer having seen how things went in Germany thanks to the Merkel wave but I am willing to believe I'm a backwards old boomer and a majority would be more welcoming.

They (UK governments) tend to say they have no choice due to the echr but this isn't true. There are a lot of operational choices they could make (eg sometimes when people are denied entry at the border they are actually allowed into the country for a few days and instructed to report back to the airport when it's time for the removal flight).

White people do not feel safe. That should be an equal concern.

I am making a specific point about the UK Jewish community, who are experiencing a significant, documented rise in antisemitic attacks.

It seems nothing has been learned from Henry Nowak's murder. Racist is still used as a weapon against white people. No good is ever going to come of anti racist programmes because there are too many people who thrive on pitting people against each other. If you don't have any concerns about excessive migration, then that's your choice. You don't get to call those who don't agree racist. That tactic is certainly not demonstrating intelligence, added with the word knuckledragger and it's fucking embarrassing.

I have seen many of your posts while lurking and you talk a lot of sense.

Maybe too much for some.

People who wish to destroy our country and the culture of the people living here? This much is apparent. They want everyone to be poor, degraded, brainwashed and compliant.

So why are successive governments inflicting this on us?????

It should be greater since they are not supporting genocide

I don’t want to be the thread police but the last thread managed to be pretty civil with very few deletions (despite Debs pretending to be on the other side of the debate and convincing most of us for half the thread).

Imo we wouldn’t have been able to have this discussion on MN even a few months ago and it’s refreshing that we can.

So I just think we should be wary of posters trying to antagonise and provoke, possibly with a view to getting the thread removed or derailing. Here endeth the lecture.

And sadly not just in the UK.

It’s beyond awful that we’re here again.

Ok but you haven’t answered whether you’d be happy with a Labour style barracks for mass accommodation

Would you be?

I know Piddington barracks - 1000 asylum seekers could not possibly be integrated into the village population there. They’d be incarcerated esentially, which is a very different situation to smaller numbers living, volunteering and socialising amongst the settled community.

Experts have long been calling for a legal route where potential asylum seekers could apply from outside of the UK, then this scale of housing (and associated costs) wouldn’t be required. So no, I wouldn’t want this facility in service because it represents a broken process.

Shocking and distressing. Many are living in fear.

How many times do you see Jewish posters on MN now? I'm not surprised they've given up.

I don’t think they’ll be incarcerated, they will be free to leave. You could have a different system whereby people apply outside but how would you deal with arrivals by international law at the shore?

Say you accept 30k the hard part is not having more people arrive outside that as possible by law, how would you stop that?

Plus as seen in Ceuta the demand for any route can be overwhelming, how would you deal with that?

smallglassbottle · Today 15:57

AndyKitten · Today 15:18

How do you integrate them?

An HMO with single young men, who don’t work, have no education, don’t speak the language in a place like, don’t know, Teddington for example.

No children at the local school, don’t go to church, don’t go to the pub, don’t volunteer at the local neighbourhood association, don’t water their neighbours plants when the neighbours are away.

How do you integrate them?

Could do night classes in basket weaving or macrame. Or perhaps contemporary poetry.

I read something awful the other day. The boyfriend of one of the 07 October victims (sorry, I can’t remember any names) shot himself at her grave.

He couldn’t cope with the grief anymore.

Yet you never hear anything about the attacks on that day in 2023 anymore. Or the suffering of those who survived.

Oh that's so sad. They still have much love and support across the world.

I read that too. Apparently he's not the first one to die by his own hand due to the grief of losing a loved one on 7th October.

Yes, I’m aware of that. White people have been subjected to numerous attacks in recent years including many Islamic terrorist murders. Attacks against white people are almost never acknowledged to be racially motivated even when it is likely they are (eg man with knife runs amok in multiethnic area and stabs multiple people all of whom appear white). Attacks against Jewish people are automatically assumed to be antisemitic in nature. I’m not suggesting that none are, I am contrasting that with the default being that interracial crimes against whites are deemed to be not racially motivated in almost all cases. So attacks against white people are not documented as such. But that doesn’t mean they are not happening.

This being the case, it’s important to state that white people also do not feel safe and this is of equal importance to Jewish people not feeling safe.

Because they've been told to presumably. Forces greater than our own who have the last say.

Well, put it this way; have a look at the security at any synagogue, and compare it to that of any church.

Yes, I think it mentioned 52(?) suicides.

It’s utterly tragic and it makes me angry that their pain and suffering is being forgotten about by the rabid pro Palestine mob.

Many churches are being attacked now, all over Europe. The church in Ireland that contains St Patrick's remains was attacked recently. Patron Saint of Ireland. Says it all. I pray the Irish can unite and take their beloved country back. I'd be certainly encouraging ds' to go there if they do.
