To ask if you think the prime minister has a democratic duty to house asylum seekers in middle class areas

By which I mean, would most voters support this as opposed to a change in policy to refuse in greater numbers? I honestly can't tell what "the majority" actually wants. I would prefer fewer having seen how things went in Germany thanks to the Merkel wave but I am willing to believe I'm a backwards old boomer and a majority would be more welcoming.

They (UK governments) tend to say they have no choice due to the echr but this isn't true. There are a lot of operational choices they could make (eg sometimes when people are denied entry at the border they are actually allowed into the country for a few days and instructed to report back to the airport when it's time for the removal flight).

Unfortunately, I have come across some virulent antisemitism very much linked to migrants.

This is another problem which is often overlooked in this whole debate.

We already have them.

Good. Delighted, when the additional numbers arrive they can set up there own area in your tranquil area. It'll be easy.

I have an easy solution. Pull the plug on the hotels, the benefits, the phones, the days out, the cooking lessons, etc etc . Problem is its being made too attractive to come here and live off the British people.
I foresee unrest in a very big way if it carries on unabated

I agree stop the pull factor and next general election vote Reform Party not the Lab/Cons and the LibDims.

It's overlooked by Pro Pal lefties because it's an inconvenient truth. They have got some nerve calling others racist.

7 thousand ? That's a huge group isn't it. Have they intergrated. Well seymour? I do wonder if such large groups even want to ? Need to ?

Ok but you haven’t answered whether you’d be happy with a Labour style barracks for mass accommodation

Would you be?

millymollymoomoo · Today 15:23

@localnotail no we don’t have to do, nor should we, accept that all

Litter and flytipping are the norm in a part of Sheffield. Nothing to do with the so called ‘asylum seekers’ but around 7000 Slovaks who moved to the area thanks to Blair opening our borders to A8 nationals after they joined the EU, long before other Western countries.

Street fights are not uncommon, last week was the most recent resulting in arrests and temporary Stop and Search powers. Integration? They can’t even cohabit peacefully with others from their country.

Many in Windrush already felt pretty British, they were taught more about British history, literature, geography etc than their own. They were culturally very close to us, as they were full citizens of the British Empire. It was shocking - and of course horrifically upsetting - when they discovered we didn't always feel the same about them. I don't think anyone doubts that eager, hardworking people (of any ethnicity) from culturally-aligned countries, who already love their new homeland and want to play their part in improving it, are a huge benefit to society, both economically and socially.

Random men from diametrically opposed cultures who show nothing but disdain and revulsion at their new country, and its culture, people and history, are really not the same as the Windrush migrants, and it is extremely offensive to lump them together.

I'm not lumping anyone together and I would generally avoid generalising any groups of people, no matter where from. There were a lot of negativity aimed at Windrush generation during the times of their arrival and settlement, and even now,, with some horrendous racism, despite everything they did for this country.

We don't need their approval. Although sadly I think it's too late to pull this back.

I feel more optimistic. There are lots of ways to encourage immigrants to leave that don't involve rounding people up ICE-style, the damage can be undone and we can greatly reduce the number of undesirable immigrants living in our country. We need to elect somebody with the political will to get on and do it though.

It's really not a town, it's barely a village. Just a smattering of houses off the main road, halfway between a very beautiful National Trust village, and a very small town with a dogs' home, a burnt-out hotel, and not a lot else. It's also right in The Chilterns and is proper walking/cycling country, so there may be a lot of unhappy people if they suddenly find groups of men loitering in the fields when they're going for a hike, or in West Wycombe when they go sightseeing. But it could be true that a large proportion of these people may be the 'welcome refugees' type, so possibly it's no bad thing. There may not be a large opposition though as there really isn't much of anywhere around where a crowd might come from; people are more likely to just find new places to walk, and new NT villages to wander round. Poor Piddington, and poor West Wycombe.

I know this area a little bit and I suspect some of the population may have moved there to get away from London and the rapidly changing demographics perhaps?

You may feel good but I think the middle class will still object to barracks. As the people of Piddington are.

But we will have to. With climate changing and the world becoming a harsher place there will be a time where we will have no choice. It's either prepare and be ready, or head in the sand and perish.

They should vote for Nigel Farage and The Reform Party next General Election if they have any sense his party is the only one who will put an end to this immigration madness.

A Conservative/Reform coalition in any of those constituencies would wipe out Labour and the Lib/Dems. The numbers from Bicester and Woodstock in the last election make it look like it would be close but the huge swing from Conservatives to Lib/Dem needs to be factored in.

If offending people with baseless insults is what you do for pleasure you may need to examine your values.

I'm not sure about specific areas, but there has been a documented rise in antisemitism in the UK.
Jewish people do not feel safe, and that should be a serious concern.

White people do not feel safe. That should be an equal concern.

TakeMeorLeaveMe · Today 15:42

FOJN · Today 15:15

You are a perfect example of a Reform recruiter. You'll deny it because you're a compassionate empathetic legend in your own mind who thinks if you could just bully everyone to your way of thinking the world would be perfect.

The hate you see everywhere is coming from you.

The hate you see everywhere is coming from you.

This with bells on. It’s pure projection. People who do not want their country and their communities changed beyond recognition by people with completely different cultures and values, and who want women, children, gay people to be safe are not motivated by hate.

LuckyHazelFox · Today 15:43

It seems nothing has been learned from Henry Nowak's murder. Racist is still used as a weapon against white people. No good is ever going to come of anti racist programmes because there are too many people who thrive on pitting people against each other. If you don't have any concerns about excessive migration, then that's your choice. You don't get to call those who don't agree racist. That tactic is certainly not demonstrating intelligence, added with the word knuckledragger and it's fucking embarrassing.

By integrate, do you mean assimilate fully into British society? Get a dog, go to the pub, cheer England on at the cricket, moan about the weather..?

Or do you mean insulate themselves within the same misogynistic, homophobic, racist, antisemitic cultures that built the very nations they claim to be fleeing from in desperation? If so, how exactly is it benefitting them - or us - to have such cultures embed themselves here, when we can very clearly see the horrifying results of the societies they create? Why on earth would anyone support this?

People who wish to destroy our country and the culture of the people living here? This much is apparent. They want everyone to be poor, degraded, brainwashed and compliant.
