To ask if you think the prime minister has a democratic duty to house asylum seekers in middle class areas

By which I mean, would most voters support this as opposed to a change in policy to refuse in greater numbers? I honestly can't tell what "the majority" actually wants. I would prefer fewer having seen how things went in Germany thanks to the Merkel wave but I am willing to believe I'm a backwards old boomer and a majority would be more welcoming.

They (UK governments) tend to say they have no choice due to the echr but this isn't true. There are a lot of operational choices they could make (eg sometimes when people are denied entry at the border they are actually allowed into the country for a few days and instructed to report back to the airport when it's time for the removal flight).

I haven’t seen this but is this what some pp have in mind when they say we have the space and they couldn’t care less.

Amazing isn’t it? It’s almost like it’s a really important issue which will affect our children’s lives more than any other or something.

Like I said, I have been to France 20 years ago and it was a shit show even then - dirt, mess, piss. people living on the street, women lying on the pavement face down begging.

I hope we have less tolerance for this.

Paris is long since gone. I wouldn't go there again and I loved that city.

Discontent regarding the housing of these unwanted, and often dangerous young men (bunch of young Afghans arrested recently for running a grooming gang all came into the country this way and claimed asylum) arriving almost daily has escalated very quickly this summer, and now he wants us to pay even more!?

We don't need their approval. Although sadly I think it's too late to pull this back.

I have an easy solution. Pull the plug on the hotels, the benefits, the phones, the days out, the cooking lessons, etc etc . Problem is its being made too attractive to come here and live off the British people.

They're not tackling the issue because they're facilitating it. They actively want this. They want us to be frightened, hurt and terrorised. Our governments are doing this to us!

Whilst I haven't been to Paris for a while, I'm imagining the area described around the Gare du Nord might be similar to the encampments set up around Park Lane, with delightful odours of piss and shit wafting towards the capital's up market hotels, intensified right now by the heat. Incidentally, the deranged woman who stabbed random men with scissors in Covent Garden was allegedly from this community. I know these pop up tent city was cleared before, after a while, but just why is there again? or do we suffer from such a malaise now that nothing can be done when these illegal tent communities just roll up and park themselves.

It's really not a town, it's barely a village. Just a smattering of houses off the main road, halfway between a very beautiful National Trust village, and a very small town with a dogs' home, a burnt-out hotel, and not a lot else. It's also right in The Chilterns and is proper walking/cycling country, so there may be a lot of unhappy people if they suddenly find groups of men loitering in the fields when they're going for a hike, or in West Wycombe when they go sightseeing. But it could be true that a large proportion of these people may be the 'welcome refugees' type, so possibly it's no bad thing. There may not be a large opposition though as there really isn't much of anywhere around where a crowd might come from; people are more likely to just find new places to walk, and new NT villages to wander round. Poor Piddington, and poor West Wycombe.

Sure it is a longterm investment hmo scheme. It won’t be a problem for the government. It’s not like they’ll run out of tenants, cheaper than a hotel, put 7 single men in.

My daughter is supposed to be going there with the school next year. I’m honestly considering not sending her because of this. She’s only 9, and I’m not sure how comfortable I feel sending her there.

You really have no idea. I live in a poorer area of London and I've seen it all - been doing some work in Ilford, ffs! I can't get bothered by Whitechapel or Stratford. I'm fine with these places and feel comfortable. This was on another level. I did not feel unsafe - but it was still awful. Like a very crowded poor African refugee camp/ village transplanted onto a Paris street.
