NDN using our allocated parking space, not their own!

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 12/08/2026 11:05

Our neighbours have started using our allocated parking space instead of their own allocated parking space.

We've spoken to them but they have continued. The view of their space is not a clear line of vision.

What to do next???

MIL have a scarf on? 😁

So it's because they can't see their car from their house?

WonderingWanda · 13/08/2026 11:07

I'm not sure what you mean about clear line of sight?

When they are parked in your space what do you do? Go and bag on their door and ask them to move. Park right up to their bumper so they can't get out and refuse to move? I would do all of those things every time and then get some very sticky don't park here stickers and put them all over their windscreen every time until the stop. Failing that get a bollard installed. Or a wheel clamp.

Rondayvu · 13/08/2026 13:17

OP do you have a car yourselves?

ABitFab · 13/08/2026 13:29

Did you resolve it?

nomas · 13/08/2026 13:35

If they are persisting, write them a letter saying they must stop or face legal action.

Can you leave your car or a different car there for a coupe of weeks? Maybe they need to be trained out if parking there.

Tooshytoshine · 12/08/2026 13:31

Get a bollard and then only park in their allocated space. CFs!

Genius 👏👏👏

booksnbaking · 13/08/2026 18:17

And here fanfare drumroll is that epic lemon drizzle thread. Forget your parking problems for a while. Enjoy.

Isinglass20 · 13/08/2026 18:17

If you warn them you’re going to put in a bollard then they’ll leave their vehicle almost permanently or at least until it’s too dark to put one in. I wouldn’t tell them.

booksnbaking · 13/08/2026 18:19

wait what, where did my links go?.

Another try for lemon drizzle…
Hm, you might have to c&p yourselves, sorry:

Just buy a bollard. They lock so they won't be able to move it. Lots of people are telling you this.

GlitteryRainbow · 13/08/2026 18:29

Use theirs? That’s the simplest thing.

MiloMinderbinder · 13/08/2026 18:30

Who allocates parking spaces? In what respect, legally, is your spaces yours, and theirs theirs? If you have legal rights to your space then a solicitor should be involved. Otherwise a lockable bollard (assuming that you are allowed to erect it) in the middle of your space. Getting in and out of your car to get onto/your space is then the silly requirement

Penguin bollard?

Are you referring to the Isle of Wight penguin bollard thread? I've been here too long! I think they've only just stopped following me round on social media 😂😂

GlitteryRainbow · 13/08/2026 18:32

theemmadilemma · 12/08/2026 11:22

😫

I love your username.

Genevieva · 13/08/2026 18:32

Block them in until they learn to use their own space or call a company to clamp the wheels or take their car away.

Yeah, this is a real non-issue. I don't know what a penguin bollard (oh, yes I do, just googled it, you don't need one!).

Just get a lockable post installed - problem solved.

Conversationalcheddar · 13/08/2026 18:34

My neighbours put a planter on theirs because they didn’t drive and random neighbourhood cars kept using it.

Hulbg1 · 13/08/2026 18:39

Get it towed. Place a warning they ignore it
good bye car.

12234m · 13/08/2026 18:41

Since you clearly name changed for this thread, and probably won't discuss anything else under it, why does it matter if you do a diagram?

Anyway, do something or stop moaning. I assume you're an adult.

Littlebitpsycho · 13/08/2026 18:54

Block. Them. In. And then categorically refuse to move until the following morning, say you've drunk a whole bottle of wine, anything. When they can't get out when they need to they'll soon stop it

Khayker · 13/08/2026 18:56

First world problem🙄

AlohaRose · 12/08/2026 11:23

Where the hell do you park if they are in your space? Can you at least block them in? And what do you mean about them exploiting the visitor parking loophole?

Exactly this. A visitor cannot use your property through a loophole. Unless of course you're saying the parking spot isn't strictly speaking yours that you own. If it's yours, it's yours and nobody else's. If it's anyone's well......you must have plans when you bought the place?

Sereine · 13/08/2026 19:14

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 12/08/2026 11:14

Think they're trying to exploit visitor loophole

What's the visitor loophole?

PenelopePinkerton · 13/08/2026 19:15

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 13/08/2026 09:46

Because I'm a private person and when another neighbour told us they had clocked what was going on, although I felt good that they too know it is wrong, I felt sad that people can see us being targeted.

Would a flow diagram suffice? Drumroll please:

Our property > our allocated parking space

NDN > permanent obstruction to line of vision > NDN's allocated parking space

And their MIL, who has also freeloaded in our space, looks like a MNer, you know the type.

Just do a diagram. No one will be able to identify your house by that.
