It’s about time we stopped taking in asylum seekers full stop. Let’s also drastically reduce immigration in general while we’re at it.

I'm pretty sure the Indian nurse and Nigerian bus driver did not come over on a small boat. We currently don't have a local asylum hotel but when we did, they certainly were not "chatting English' so forgive me but I find that bit hard to believe.

If you want to deny that huge increases in population put pressure on housing and drive up prices, you go right ahead.

Nope. On average, someone who enters the country via asylum route will be a net taker over their lifetime, collectively they are not adding anything financially into the 'tax pot' which pays pensions etc, they are actually reducing the pot.

But those who enter via a skilled worker visa or similar will usually be a net contributor, on average more than someone born in the uk

So we need to be careful to differentiate when looking at immigrant financial contributions.

This is such a strange comment. The left ARE middle class people. Have you seen the demographics of who has voted Labour in recent years? Overwhelmingly middle class.

Wouldn’t this just massively increase the cost of housing asylum seekers? The reason the asylum hotels are in poor areas is because housing them there is cheap. Putting them in smart areas will be extremely expensive, and that’s if you can even find a hotel that would be willing to take part in the scheme.

Why the middle classes and not the rich???

There really are enclaves of rich and poor in post-industrial Northern towns.

i live in a big popular multi cultural city
certain areas were always rough not as nice as others area but they had a sense of community

but in recent years it’s completely changed

walk down ( if your brave ) the main Street and you would be lucky to see a white person or even a British black / mixed race person

years ago you had a mix of white black mixed race Indian and Pakistani’s

now it’s predominantly Somalian , African immigrants all Muslim
they have a mosque and it’s packed
they double park and traffic warden won’t ever ticket them as they get abuse and it’s to much trouble

walk or drive along any time of the day and there are groups of young & old men hanging out in the street ( and it’s always men )

the butchers that was there for many years ands was owned by a white family shut down a few years ago as another butcher opened up and the majority of immigrants went to this one

No I dont agree with that. Yes low birth rates are linked to house prices BUT House prices were driven up mostly by clever government and banking rules, cheap debt and mortguages.
As just one example think back to 2008 when the Bank of England implemented "super low, almost free emergency interest rates" to stave off (aka kick the can down the road) the financial crisis. House prices started rising overnight and the ultra low rates remained for so long people began believing it was a new normal - further increasing prices. "Emergency" cheap rates in fact lasted until 2022. A whopping 14 years of false house price inflation. Now that borrowing is at a more normal rate the housing market has started slumping.

Middle class people I expect do just as much to make the UK a choice destination for those travelling in small boats. The ability to do a cash in hand or low entry job whilst seeking asylum or indeed if granted it is one thing that is an attraction of the UK, along with English being a widely spoken language.

Middle class people are more likely to go a dubious car wash place, just as likely to take illegal drugs, for example.

Exactly. I live in a very middle class, predominantly left-wing voting town. I’ve seen posters in peoples windows supporting the EU and migration. Perhaps we should house migrants in HMOs in these areas. I’m sure current residents would be delighted 😂

Detain on arrival and rapidly seas and deport. Take to the border of their home country if the UK can’t send flights there.

Stop funding all the interpreters for people that live here for decades and don’t learn the language.

Return foreign criminals to prisons in their own country.
