To think Count Binface is doing a great job in the Clacton by-election?

Count down to Bin Day!

Count Binface has been out bigging-up Clacton and drawing attention to its potential.

It’s a really positive campaign.

I don’t think he’ll win but I’d love it if he did. I think he’d be brilliant.

And if he doesn’t, I think other candidates could learn a lot from his approach.

The thing is that lots of people donated £3 (me too) without the expectation of anything in return.

£180k might come with some strings, real or imagined, and would call into question his independence.

Yes, and near on 100K would be more than enough to fund the sort of campaign he ran, which was largely word of mouth. He also had a lot of free publicity from online and legacy media.

hedgeknight · 17/08/2026 19:05

@MyKittyKatty has not come up with any evidence that the Count and Dale are lying and seems unaware about the Electoral Commission and donations sp I think we can draw our conclusions.

As for GB News providing balance, lol

As a resident in the constituency, can I just say thank you to those who are keeping the thread updated with the latest snippets of news etc, it’s very much appreciated.

I’ve been kind of avoiding the news the last few days in order to not become too grumpy 😂

Hello @HeHasMyVote . How are things in the constituency now? It must feel weird now that the election/media circus has moved on.

It’s not really much different, tbh. The media focus all seemed to be in Clacton itself, it’s like everyone forgets that it’s a large area with lots of villages.

Driving around, all the boards are still up in peoples gardens. Thankfully no more literature landing on the doormat!

So everyday life just goes on. Will be very interesting to see what happens with the investigation.

I can imagine the literature @HeHasMyVote . Before the local council elections me and DH must have had 10 posted letters from Reform between us, all cunningly disguised not to look like political gumph, so they got opened.

Most went seamlessly into the recycling but I'm afraid one with a particularly egregious picture of the grinning Farage that came on a particularly difficult day was torn into tiny bits and flushed. Cathartic!

I expect the boards have been left up ready for the next by-election. It won’t be long.

Really should have. Next time...

It would be fab if someone collected all the Reform boards and updated them to reflect everything that happened after the election - shying away from the count, the ‘nobodies’ comment, slashing benefits.

Wouldn’t it just? If only I lived in Clacton.

Darker · 18/08/2026 20:14

I think a few Reformers are unimpressed by how Farage handled the by-election. It was hardly statesmanlike.

I wonder how far the dissatisfaction goes.

Anyone apart from the most zealot can't be happy, surely. I suppose it's easy to get rid of dissenters from a limited company, but there's a limit to how many they can lose. Loads of councillors gon already for one reason and another.

BIossomtoes · 18/08/2026 20:45

It appears that Reform - apparently Farage didn’t know Montgomerie had been suspended - is doing exactly what Johnson did and expelling anyone who looks halfway sane. We all know where that ended up. He was doing the media rounds defending them on Friday.

Darker · 18/08/2026 21:00

I reckon Farage is too busy doing whatever he does for the £2mil he earns on top of his MP salary to know what is actually going on.

Oh for the laugh emoji 😂. I’m sick of seeing his face on the boards, have managed to restrain myself from taking a box of eggs with me when I’m driving around.

Darker · 18/08/2026 22:51

Well, the boards will go eventually but the bins will be lining the streets every bin day, an unintentional permanent reminder of a great day for British democracy.

To think Count Binface is doing a great job in the Clacton by-election?

Now that is a genius way of looking at it. I’ve made a mental note to appreciate all bins that I see on my travels 🗑

Here we go.

One of the comments is “It’s an ‘are we the baddies?’ moment”.

I think there may also be an element of "And then they came for me" in play here, @Darker

Indeed, @Uricon2 .
