Count Binface has been out bigging-up Clacton and drawing attention to its potential.

It’s a really positive campaign.

I don’t think he’ll win but I’d love it if he did. I think he’d be brilliant.

And if he doesn’t, I think other candidates could learn a lot from his approach.

I agree that he supports democracy. He’s been consistent and making his points brilliantly.

He has shown huge appreciation for the people who voted for Binface.

Like I said in my OP, I think others could learn a lot from him.

It's not really. It involves taking the piss out of the pompous, it is on the side of ordinary people rather than Gods (or the self appointed human type) and it celebrates humour and silliness. CB has done all those things and you don't need to be impressed by his grasp of Homeric Greek to appreciate it.

ETA it is predicated on actually having a sense of humour and I've seen little evidence of such from NF et al. It starts with not taking yourself terribly seriously, for a start.

What Harvey has achieved with Binface is to bring his satire out of the TV shows (that generally preach to the converted) and to reach a much wider audience of anyone that is interested in politics, even if only at election time. Genius.

As well as cheering up a tired electorate, Count Binface has almost certainly made politics interesting and accessible to children and young people. Total star. 🌟

The police have said there absolutely was no threat or protest.

The crowd was organised by an artist? Ok - not necessarily nice if you are the target, but it didn’t look like a violent or dangerous mob, and the security would have stopped them getting into the centre.

maybe to you it doesn't, but to someone who gets regular death threats and has had his house fire-bombed (which is now being taken seriously BTW since poor Anne Widdicombe was murdered) it would be enough to make them feel twitchy.

Oh bollocks, he was at a festival set up to glorify him. As if he was going to swap that for a leisure centre and a bin.

There was an Asst Chief Constable overseeing security arrangements. Essex police were taking the whole thing seriously and I believe them over the known liar Farage.

So, as I asked upthread, what was the security like at Farage Fest?

If the threat to Farage justified a bullet proof car I’m sure the security would have been provided.
