Whats the point of consent and permission ? friends meal and they cover the cost, they said here is x amount get what you want, so permission is asked what the limit is eg £20 and i can get whatever food / takeaway with it, the yes permission is given that i can buy what i want within the budget.

turns out a day or two after wards a sarcastic comment was made because i had 2 jacket potatoes with different toppings, so i said why is that an issue and it turns out that they still thought id get one instead of two ,

so i said i asked permission of what the budget was and i did ask what i could get then all i got was oh id still thought you would get 1 so i said why then say i can get x why not just say and be honest.

i guess this is more me moaning but why do people do this, say yes to x then they actually want you do to x instead its like why ?

before anyone asks we usually do a weekly meal out, and no they are fairly wealthy

What did you order and for what price, on the occasion you got "moaned" at for spending lots?

By all means eat two potatoes - they're cheap and hardly an indulgent meal. Your friend is horrid if they invite you to dinner then shame and criticise you for eating a couple of in-budget spuds.

You deserve better.

But this is a story about a negative experience on a free meal. So don't overstate it like you did in your title - you have a rude or cheap friend, not lies or consent/permission issues.

I don't understand why you didn't ask for the extra topping as a side? Lots of times you can order an extra filling rather than ordering a whole other meal!
I think if you knew the potato wasn't going to fill you up then I would have ordered a side salad (as based on the price it sounds like it wouldn't come with anything).
Or I would have suggested dessert/coffee at the end.

Yes means Yes within the normal social concepts. It doesn't mean "Yes, even though it's not what I meant at all and you're misinterpreting what I was agreeing to"

Ok... that "moan" wasn't about the price. It was again about you ordering more than a normal meal at their expense.

1. Do you know what the “sarcastic comment” was? YES/NO
2. a. If YES - what was it? (Exact wording)
3. b. If NO - how do you know what they said was bad?

but then the easiest answer then is no you cannot order what you want ?

You are such a fan of AI and use it to create fictional stories, why don't you ask an AI what you should order when someone else is paying every, single week? Even it will tell you that you don't order extras.
