Wow so I’m not allowed to hurt ?

@TheOpalFox this is what I meant when I suggested a move to the Relationships board. AIBU is a free for all and you're too upset for that at the moment. If you report your first post to MNHQ and request it, they can sort it.

Echobelly · 08/08/2026 17:03

I'm so sorry - obviously it is early days and it's going to take a while. As people have said, one day at a time and try not to dwell. The sort of person who would block a child is not worth your tears and pain.

JabbaTheBeachHut · 08/08/2026 17:14

You two are always splitting up and getting back together OP.

Your relationship has been shit for a long time and so has your mental health.

The best thing you can do for you and your child, is not to beg him to take you back this time.

Move on and work on you and your son.

Her son is a teenager and we have no idea why he felt the need to block him.

For all we know he could've blocked the OP and she started messaging from her son's phone.

Sartre · 08/08/2026 17:23

It definitely improves with time, it’s a process like anything else. Time scales vary person to person but I’d say most people feel lighter within a few months.

The child is 16 and a clean break is absolutely the best thing.

OP. Get off the internet, stop starting identical threads and go outside for some fresh air and perspective.

Wolfiefan · 08/08/2026 18:16

Spend some time with your teenager. Plan some nice things to do together. Have some time for you. Self care and be gentle to yourself.
Ultimately this doesn’t sound like it was a healthy relationship though and you’re better off out of it in the long run. Time to focus on what makes you happy.

I’m sorry I think I might have depression I can’t even think straight.

Breakups can hurt like hell, there's nothing weird or unhealthy about feeling the way you do. Five days is not very long. You may feel a lot better in a month's time, but give it as long as it takes.

daisychain01 · 08/08/2026 20:57

The concern is that the OP is wallowing in all the drama, and acting like a teenager, not a grown adult with a young son.

darkandgloomy · 08/08/2026 21:03

Didn't I read a thread about this already? An ex blocking his exdp's son???

Soccermom2020 · 08/08/2026 21:11

It's very hard I won't lie have been there how long we're ye together?kids together?as you said he blocked your son is that your son together?it does get easier I would say try keep busy with your friends if you can and your son...to keep your mind busy and try do things you enjoy

Voneska · 08/08/2026 21:13

No , it does not get easier. You have to learn to manage the pain. You cannot live under the same mindset as before. You are in manage- emotions mode. Will go on for months. You might want to hibernate, eat what you want, drink what you want. Watch Y. Tube. On similar things. After a few months then things settle down to permanent Misery; not up one day down the next but permanent sad.... that's where I am now but my story is that its best hes gone and he took one of my friends and they're both gaslighting me together, lying .

OP read Essays in Love by Alain De Bottain. Will help explain the why it hurts so much to a large extent.

Did we talk about this the other day? I referenced my long history of depression and anxiety. I pointed out that heartbreak hurts with medication as well.

Did you have any signs of depression before this happened?

Skyflier · 08/08/2026 21:44

Oh love yes of course it gets easier. But you need to live through the pain first. Honestly the pain eases and you don’t think about them anymore xx

Ireallywantadoughnut36 · 08/08/2026 21:50

It's tough, we've all been there but ultimately you can't let it stop you and try not to be quite so dramatic, you can't lose a stone if 5 days (I wish I could).
Stay busy, walk, clean stuff, take your child out on trips, do work-work whatever you do, do it. Absolutely do not sit and wallow, it doesn't help. Treat yourself like you're a bit poorly - buy food in that makes you smile (tunnocks tea cakes, haagan daz and beans on toast for me), have some self care, baths, sleep if you can. Gradually you'll just think less about him, and you'll be able to stop being busy and just chill and he won't be on your mind and you won't feel sad.
Time, stay busy, try and eat/sleep/look after yourself. Do not text him. It always feels shit and you always get over it.

IsThistheMiddleofNowhere · 08/08/2026 21:53

So sorry op. Yes, it does get better. I know at the moment it feels like the end of the world but you have to gather all your inner strength, keep busy, force yourself to go out, join clubs even if your hearts not in it. It takes about 6 months but by doing all those things you may find you have made new friends, new independence and found things you enjoy doing. Be strong and don't let the hurt swallow you up.

whippersnapper55 · 08/08/2026 21:59

OP if you think you have depression, you need to see your GP. No man is worth the angst. Your child needs you to be well so seeing your GP is the first step.

Heartbreak is never easy but from what you've written in your numerous posts, this man is not worth crying over. He is nasty and you are better off without him.

The best way to get over him is to get up, get washed, get outside in the fresh air and keep busy. Tire yourself out so you've got a chance of getting some sleep. Try and eat little and often - easy to digest foods like a couple of plain biscuits and some thinly sliced apples or pears.

Think about what you want to do with your life - you are the only person responsible for your happiness and wellbeing. Take up a new hobby or sport, do some gardening or baking, join a social group and make some friends. Fill your life with activities and people and have some fun. You deserve it.

Phoenixfire1988 · 08/08/2026 22:13

You are but when you have a child to look after what you're not allowed to do is go on like you are you're son needs you to be his mother not a blubbering mess over some bloke . If you think you have depression make a doctor's appointment .

That is a whole other ballgame and something you should’ve mentioned separately to this - it’s not just about the end of a relationship then

the information you’ve given across several threads would be best to put on one and maybe put in the mental health section, which I found very helpful over the years

I wish you all the best.

Wolfiefan · 08/08/2026 22:23

You aren’t addicted. You sound obsessed with him. You need to focus on your own mental health and being well for your son. I’m not sure what makes you think this is depression. But maybe your unhealthy parental relationships have affected how you approach adult ones.
