To ask what age you started cosmetic procedures?

If you have botox, fillers, have had surgical procedures, threads etc.
I'm 35 and have been having crows' feet Botox once or twice a year for a few years, and I've had nasolabial fold filler twice. This seems to be ok for now, I'm trying to hold off on anything else for as long as possible due to cost and not wanting too much maintenance and upkeep with it all.
Eventually I'm sure I'll start to need more though, I know I'm still young and I'm using spf 50 and retinol currently.

So just wondered what sort of age you noticed the biggest changes and started anti ageing treatments? Please no judgement, I know it isn't for everyone.

I'm 60 never had anything done. Why on earth would a 35 year old need anything done.

32 for Botox. Not had filler.

I'm nearly 40 and haven't done anything like this, and can't say I feel tempted yet but would seek it out if I changed my mind.

Other people's faces and choices are their business as far as I'm concerned.

Insult? It was you who said he looked old, sorry if you misunderstood . This is a thread about ageing and cosmetic procedures. Many men don't look after themselves so I suggested skincare. Does he moisturise?

Show me where I’ve slagged anyone off, you can quote the post in question. Please tell me how cosmetic procedures could be motivated by anything except vanity? I’ve owned up to my own vanity on this thread.

Please, OP, don't listen to all this drivel. It is OK that those with wrinkles, fat, greying birds-nest-hair (that is me, by the way) love themselves the way they are. It is not normal, however, that those scary-looking people demanding others 'to love them the way they are'. What a fucking laugh.

You did say that Botox etc are down to vanity. That's your opinion - it's a thought, it's not a fact . I don't say that people who look very wrinkly are unkempt, old gnarlies. It's everyone's choice but there is no need to slate others because of a thought you have about yourself. Live and let live.

Exactly. Vanity sounds so sneery doesn't it. People have tweaks as it boosts their confidence not because they're vain.

Why else would anyone have it? There’s nothing wrong with vanity, it’s what stops me from doing anything to my face, I’d be frightened of spoiling it. That’s probably as vain as it’s possible to get.

I work in a corporate environment and most senior women have these kind of procedures. There is inevitably a kind of mask-like appearance from Botox and it eventually ends up making people look older than they actually are. I’m 39, haven’t had anything done, and because I don’t have the weird pillow face, the assumption is that I’m under 35.

Yes I have NO issue with anyone doing anything or nothing to their faces, hair, bodies etc. There is no need to get personal like we have seen on this thread - everything from it's not fair to women who can't afford it 🙄 to it's a personality disorder. It's just ridiculous.
If this attitude was used in other threads eg number of children women have or single mothers continuing to have children all merry hell would break out.

Never had anything done, and I doubt I ever will. I’m 48. Mostly I really DGAF whether people think I look old or not. My face is my face, and every wrinkle is there because I’ve managed to stay alive for another year. I don’t usually wear makeup either, that’s a mix of being too lazy to to do it and being allergic to practically every mascara and eye makeup ever made. 😂 If I wear the wrong mascara or eyeliner I end up with swollen, tearing eyes for at least a week. It’s not worth it.

I personally don’t understand the human obsession with being horrified at aging. If you’re showing signs of aging it means you’ve survived this far, millions of people don’t get that privilege.

I also don’t like the “look” when people get fillers or Botox or whatever. Some people do, so it’s their business what they do with their faces. Like I said I DGAF what people think of my face, so I doubt anyone cares what I think of their face.

What I dont inderstand is why tweakers dont get that they are being drawn into a spiral of procedures and £££

Its a trap
On one hand you have face yoga and the importance of muscle tone on ageing and then paralysis of the muscles is pushed until you have a flat droopy face and now you need a whole plethora of other procedures/ filler to deal with that .

I started botox at around 40. It isn't noticeable I don't think as I have plenty of wrinkles, it just softens the frown lines etc.

I started getting it as I always looked tired but obv working hard wasn't optional. Also being single and hoping to find a nice relationship, I hoped to look a bit less tired.

Its awful isn't it. Sneers under the guise of 'concern'.

Tweaks boosts confidence. Accusing anyone of being vain is unpleasant, no idea why a pp doesnt understand that.

Some people go too far but we get that everything from tattoos to fat jabs. Less is always more.

It’s clear that the high level of defensiveness and darvo comes from knowing many of the posters have a good point. Pointing out that normalising the Botox and filler look means that those women who can’t afford it will be ‘othered’ is not personal - it’s fact.

To people saying it isn’t noticeable - it is. You don’t look like a younger version of yourself; you look like someone who has had Botox. It can look good! But it is strange not to realise that people can tell you’ve had it.
