To ask what age you started cosmetic procedures?

If you have botox, fillers, have had surgical procedures, threads etc.
I'm 35 and have been having crows' feet Botox once or twice a year for a few years, and I've had nasolabial fold filler twice. This seems to be ok for now, I'm trying to hold off on anything else for as long as possible due to cost and not wanting too much maintenance and upkeep with it all.
Eventually I'm sure I'll start to need more though, I know I'm still young and I'm using spf 50 and retinol currently.

So just wondered what sort of age you noticed the biggest changes and started anti ageing treatments? Please no judgement, I know it isn't for everyone.

I don't like people who judge me on what I look like so the people in my life are genuine people so I feel no need to alter my appearance as wrinkles are just part of aging.

Its sad you don't have the confidence to just love yourself as you are.

I understand that but it's up to us if we want to try anti-ageing procedures, it doesn't mean we don't love ourselves, it's just up to us really if we want our skin to look a different way, it doesn't mean we hate ourselves.
This thread isn't intended as a debate on whether women should accept their ageing skin, it's a genuine question for people who have an interest in cosmetic procedures.

Mid 40’s, but I should probably have started sooner.

I've only had Botox. 42. Had big vertical line between the eyes and always looked scowly. People always asking me what was wrong when nothing was and now they never do.

But it started because I had jaw pain from tooth grinding and someone said Botox could fix that. The practitioner I found did medical and cosmetic Botox so ended up getting both. Although the jaw one ended up improving my appearance too as the big jaw muscles went right down.

I also don’t hate myself, FYI. I love fashion and beauty and think I look great!

Never,I'm mid 50s. Botox etc doesn't make you look younger, it makes your face look fake. Just grow old gracefully, people especially when they get to 60 plus you can tell who's had this done and it does not look pretty.

I’m 46 and regularly get micro needling and have a number of non invasive procedures with my aesthetician , use spf 50 daily (and have done for about 15 years) use retinol. I get my eye brows micro bladed and a lash lift, for me it’s not just the procedures but everything as well to maintain. So I try to get enough sleep (not great at this) I drink 3L of water a day, but this is also offset with the wine! 😂

My sister (39) got Botox on her face last week and it looks fantastic. She looks ‘refreshed’ I’ve just made an appointment! Not a fan of fillers as I think they look a bit fake, but each to their own.

If you ask "Am I being unreasonable?", at least some people are going to tell you that you are, so if you can't take it, get MN to move your post to S and B, where at least some people might actually care what you do to yourself.

You do you, don't know why people feel the need to comment on these threads, OP didn't ask your opinion she asked what age people started!
Plus you can't always tell if it's done well.
I started in my late 30's OP, micro-needling etc, I now have a bit of botox for my frown, skin boosters and microneedling.
I don't wear makeup and my skin looks and feels good, which is what I want, I will never be 20 but I can be the best very late 50's.

I'm 46 and I haven't had any done. And I reckon I look my age but several people have expressed surprise recently on finding out I have a 15 year old and said I don't look old enough

I can understand the imperatives that make people feel they need procedures. But millennia of evolution have trained us to understand a human face that can make all the normal facial expressions. Aging is a privilege and it's beautiful

Yes, she asked "what age?". But it's perfectly reasonable to give our age and say we haven't had any.

I'm late 60's. Never had anything done. I have never worn make up either.

Why do you think you need it? Genuine question.

I occasionally wear make up (eg a bit of blusher if I am deathly pale) but I have never dyed my hair.

I do like perfume and jewellery and fashion though

It’s because it’s an AIBU - because she’s asked if she’s being unreasonable to ask what age people started cosmetic procedures, she’s going to get some people who think she is unreasonable to ask because they’re unnecessary.

ETA: It’s because she’s presented it as a given/a norm, when it isn’t.

I started Botox this year at 58, and have possibly left it too late but I will withhold judgment until my next session in 2 weeks when I have my 11s and crows feet done. I also started tretinoin this year and that’s already improving the texture of my skin. Best of luck!

I'm 57 and haven't had anything done, I scrub my face with a brillo pad once a month and slather on lard religiously every morning. I often get stopped in the street and asked if my mammy knows I'm out alone.
I really don't need treatments.

Nope, not unreasonable to ask. The answer is not yet and I almost certainly never will (i.e. only in the event of serious disfigurement). I'm mid-50s.

I've even got grey hairs on show!

I'm nearly 40 and I've not done it yet. I've decided to have a really good try with skincare and if I'm not happy at 40 I will get botox. I've started using retinal in the evenings, peptides in the morning and corsx glazing mask weekly. It's made quite a big difference.

Since I was about 45 but probably should have dipped my toe in sooner. For me it's not about looking younger it's about slowing down looking older. Botox, fillers so far. Thinking now of a mini face lift rather than going for fillers again. I honestly don't think skin care has a massive impact, other than SPF, so I go for midrange rather than very pricey and use what I don't spend towards treatments.

So why do you need it then?

What's wrong with looking in your 40s? Looking in your 50s? Looking in your 60s etc...?

You cannot possibly be happy in your own skin if you feel the need to change your appearance.

While I empathise with individual women feeling they ‘need’ these procedures due to patriarchal societal conditioning, and I don’t really care what people want to spend their time and money on, I DO think it’s an issue that affects us all, even those of us who don’t have them done, and so it’s okay for us to have an opinion on it. The more women who buy into this ‘anti-ageing’ bullshit, the more normalised it becomes. Pretty soon, those who haven’t had Botox and fillers will become the minority and be discriminated against for daring to look their age. It’s warping everyone’s minds and perceptions of human appearance, and that DOES impact me, so I will continue to speak out against it whilst still empathising with those who are unable to withstand the pressure to conform.

I will be 70 tomorrow and maybe its a generation thing but have never had anything done to my face , I don't wear make up as I have sensitive skin to be quite honest at my age looks go down the priority list
