Is it just me or has Netflix gone right down hill? Not seen anything on there I fancy watching for months. Dont know why we bother keeping it! It’s all foreign dubbed films and crime documentaries

A lot of the stuff on prime you have to pay extra for though!

I know and it's getting more of a pisstake! They are leaving all the shit for "free" view 😆 🤣

AuntieBiotics · 31/07/2026 19:13

Well I have spent the afternoon watching thew first two episodes of a Spanish crime drama called Dos Tumbas (Two Graves). I speak Spanish but watch it with subtitles in Spanish. Also enjoyed City of Shadows and the Empress, which is in German.

I don't think you know what "dubbing" is. Broaden your horizons a little. If you spend your time on Netflix watching "AI slop" then the Netflix algorithm is going to suggest you watch more.

LuckyHazelFox · 31/07/2026 19:13

Two things i thought Netflix was great for: Tindler Swindler and Baby Reindeer.

Teenagerantruns · 31/07/2026 19:13

I pay for prime mainly for the free delivery, we dont watch much on it the odd film or series.
We have netflix for a few months then cancel when we have watched what we need.
To be honest there is so much free stuff on I player and channel 4/5 we dont really need any other streaming. But it is just us no kids at home and we don't really watch sport

AuntieBiotics · 31/07/2026 19:14

I also watch stuff which was originally on ITV on Netflix, as there are no awful ads.

Do you pay extra for no ads? I pay minimum subs but don't find the ads as intrusive as mainstream TV.

AuntieBiotics · 31/07/2026 19:16

We pay extra for no ads.

Rufusisturnedon · 31/07/2026 19:20

Yes! I keep clicking on dramas to find they are dubbed. Can’t be arsed with that shite.

smallglassbottle · 31/07/2026 19:22

I started a thread a little while ago about how rubbish netflix is and all the crime dramas. Some smartiepants then informed me that I wasn't searching properly and there's some sort of secret menu that unlocks lots of exciting content 🙄 only there isn't a secret menu and it's all rubbish.

Has anyone also noticed that alongside the crime, the programmes are all full of murder and abuse of women? Woman gets stalked, woman gets kidnapped, woman gets murdered etc.

Subtitled is not the same as dubbed....

Imagine being so parochial as to only ever watch things in English and then complain that there's nothing on Netflix.

Yes, you feel like a ghoul for even previewing them. Remember the awful one about a woman set on fire by her scumbag boyfriend at a petrol station.

I bloody hate the badly dubbed international Netflix programmes. They are so badly done it’s cringeworthy. And a lot of the documentaries are ones that have been on terrestrial before so hardly new offerings. No new films either.

I thought the same . Dubbed films infuriate me !

Sharmelbreak · 31/07/2026 19:31

There’s a lot of mediocre, middle-of-the-road filler. I read recently that Netflix asks writers to “dumb down” scripts and constantly recap plots on the assumption that most people are watching over the top of their phone. To be fair, they’re probably right.

purungpurung · 31/07/2026 19:33

I watch K-dramas on it. In original language, not dubbed, but subtitled.

I like the idea of cycling through different providers every 6months or so, as previous posters do.

everyoldsock · 31/07/2026 19:41

I just have it for the odd month. The last Netflix show I enjoyed was Black Doves, before that Baby Reindeer.

Netflix was never the same for me after The Crown finished in 2023, but I’ll sign up again to watch the new series of Black Doves.

The best streaming platform is Now which has Sky Atlantic shows (The White Lotus, Hacks, The Gilded Age, Rooster, True Detective).

We’re not on about subtitles!!!

You have probably just watched everything you might like, might be worth cancelling and signing up somewhere else for a few months, rotate a bit, then when you eventually go back there will be more you might like

"Foreign" is not a genre of film.

Well presumably I wasn’t talking double dutch and you understood what I meant.

samthebordercollie · 31/07/2026 20:42

I don’t know what you are talking about. I’m British/French married to a Frenchman who doesn’t speak a lot of English and there are so many things British/US séries, documentaries, films I’d like to watch in VO but watch dubbed or with subtitles. OTOH I think Apple TV has some of the best series at the moment. Widow’s Bay is fantastic.

You know you can go into the settings and change the audio track to the original language? And add English subtitles if necessary. I agree the original language is better for intonation etc.

I didn't know that . I'll give it a go . Thanks

Just you

mumofthemonsters808 · 31/07/2026 22:25

Yes I agree I spend more time searching than I do watching, I’ve switched so many things off lately.I’m hoping it gets better during the Autumn/Winter but I won’t hold my breath I think Sky Atlantic is the best.

Downthedrainwithme · 31/07/2026 22:28

Ever since they changed the interface a year or so ago it's felt like there's nothing to watch because you get about a third of the library shown to you based on your watching habits.

It's not as bad as Disney's interface or Amazon but this obsession tech guys have with huge tiles for each show and movie and only showing you a slice of the content is annoying.
