Overnight flushing

Maybe my titles a bit deceiving! I'm talking toilet flushing here!
Dh and I disagree about this. He doesn't like anyone flushing the toilet overnight as says it wakes everyone up. He says it's normal for people not to flush overnight.
I think it's disgusting. I don't want to be weeing on another person's pee!
So am I being unreasonable here?

Nobody flushes wee in the night in our house. We're all poor sleepers so it's a rule to.preserve everyone's sleep. Way more important than having to flysh more in the morning.

We are non flushers for wees overnight. The plumbing is fine so maybe it dates back to our childhoods! Also as pp said there is a severe water shortage at the moment, so maybe let DH "win" the argument until we've had some rain?

We don’t really need to wee at night but if one of the dc goes they don’t flush because of environmental reasons.

We're a no flushing at night unless it's a poo household.

But if you have a wee in the night, the rule is that you give a quick squeeze Harpic down the into the pan, so it doesn't stink of stale of piddle in the morning.

We don’t flush wee in the night because the kids are still tiny and sleep with their doors open and after years of terrible sleep we don’t want to risk waking them! We would have always done it pre kids though so I think it will change when they’re a bit older.

It had never occurred to me not to flush, perhaps my family were all heavy sleepers.

However, I also cannot understand why you’d be bothered by peeing on pee!!

Amazed that people are so blasé about water use! My kids never flush after wees. If they did we’d be off the charts with our water consumption.

Always flush in the wee hours...

Alas, my teens save water by not drinking enough in the first place which means that it really does need flushing away when they've been.

The old saying about "you can lead a horse to water..." is so true and they ignore my handwringing about their poor kidneys.

The downstairs toilet is fair play for flushing.
DH's en-suite has a really annoyingly loud pump that due to the roof structure sounds louder in the main structure of the house, so that's a no at night.
The main bathroom (due for replacement) has a dicky built-in cistern that means it will hiss away for ages as it refills at a trickle, so that one's moderately loud. If the user is well hydrated, it's better to leave it.

I don't flush overnight but there is only me in the house so I'm ok with that.

If anyone was staying here though, it would be flushed every time, there's no way I would leave even a wee unflushed.

Always flush. The thought of not flushing the toilet after use is, IMO, vile.

My son is like that too, so I will flush if I come across one of his!

i admit their lack of flushing can be awkward when there are guests so I try to do a run around first.

Non-flusher (for wee) because the loo is next to the bedroom so even the "water saving" flush sounds like the Amazon rainforest.
That said on the basis of "habit of a lifetime" DP and I still flush sometimes during the night on the basis of autopilot training by parents.

In a water shortage: if it’s yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down 😁

I was brought up to flush in a 1930s solid brick-built house with good internal walls.

DW was brought up not to flush in a 1970s timber-framed new build with paper-thin internal walls.

It all depends on where you live, IMO.

We always flush whatever time of day.

Get a quieter toilet? You cant hear ours and the walls to the bedrooms either side are paper thin plasterboard.

Team non flush here. Maybe if you live in a large house and the toilet isn't next to people's bedrooms.

Also, why do you all have smelly wee? 🤣 You need to focus on drinking first

Totally agree with this.... If I wee during the night I dont flush to avoid waking anyone.

But also - Have the rest of you never heard of "If its Yellow let is mellow, if it's brown flush it down"

I dont always flush everytime I have a wee - even during the day!!. Its just wee - honestly nothings going to happen if it sits in the bowl a while!!!!

If i have invited guests round thats a bit different and always flush - and when in someones elses house obvs!

we don't flush overnight.

We dont flush overnight and if its just us in the house in the day we dont flush every time either. It probably gets flushed say every 3 or 4 wees. Unnecessary use of water and just something both our parents seemed to instill in us so its carried on.
