AIBU to stay indoors during heatwave

To stay inside all day during 33° heat. I’ve done pretty much nothing all day, read a bit, made ice coffee and booked myself a hairdresser appointment. Too hot to go out or do any housework! Basically the heat is licence to laze.

I mostly stay indoors with the fans on in this heat (33⁰ here in Essex too).

I only pop into the garden now and then to peg the washing out, and then later to fetch it in again.

I hate baking myself in the sun and being drenched in sweat. It's just sooo uncomfortable.

I do sometimes sit out on the patio and read my book once the shade has come over it in the evening. It's much better then.

Come to Cornwall! We’re here and it’s warm but not overly sunny or hot. Much to my disgust 😂 rather disappointingly it’s very warm back at home where we actually live in the SE.
Dh struggles in the heat so I leave him at home sitting like a 90 year old in front of the fans with the blinds all shut and go out and live my life!

It's been 22 degrees here the past two days, with thunderstorms and scattered showers. I was not pleased (since we were on holiday, but it was alright, actually). Finally back to lovely 34 degrees today.
I've mopped all the floors, cleaned the bathrooms, done the washing, been to the garden centre,...hopped about on the trampoline with the small ones, set up a tent, cleaned the pool and made several meals and snacks.
Currently having dinner outside in thrle garden. I'll go and drag some watering cans about in a minute, to avoid everything dying from neglect. 🤷‍♀️😁 Will have a nice cold cider later, while floating in the pool...
I do like it warm, though. I'm also not terribly sweaty, I have to admit.

Yes sooo much nicer in the evenings. And it’s been a lot cooler at night so that’s making it a bit easier. At least the place has a chance to cool down overnight.

@Fuzzypinetree 34 degrees is not 'lovely heat' in the UK. It's a sign that things have gone very seriously wrong.

My house is an oven so I can’t do that past about 2pm.
Currently in garden in the shade. Thankfully it goes down to 26 tmw as it’s impossible to concentrate or do anything that requires brain power!

@hairbearbunches I'm not in the UK. 😁 This is perfectly normal here in the summer.
We moved abroad a few years ago. The quite "samey" weather we used to have all year round by the coast was a little depressing. Now we've got proper summers and plenty of snow in the winter.
It's when we hit the 40 degrees when it gets unusually hot here. Mid-30s is fine.

YANBU in the slightest OP. Not in the UK but dealing with the same heatwave. DSis posted pics of her DDog on walkies strike - sensible little tyke.

Cute! And definitely animals are far more sensible than us.

It's only one day of real heat, feel free to laze!

34C here. My garden office is fine until mid afternoon and then the 2 fans just blow the warm air about.
My house stays relatively cool so I've moved to the kitchen table.
We had a power cut for just over an hour so not even fans then!

It's pretty quiet out, I think most people are staying in.
Football training cancelled for DS2, which frees me up to go and swim in the lake for the full moon. That's worked out well.

I've just done something really stupid. I save lots of recipes from FB and decided to make one tonight as I have everything in the fridge. Except I've had to turn the oven on. It's 34c outside. Probably inside too now.

Off work today so we had a walk early for some fresh air and have been relaxing indoors since. I like spending time in the garden in the evening as it starts to cool though!

Some of us have been there, done that and are now enjoying our twilight years (although having retired at 57 I hope the darkness does not descend too quickly!).

I work from home and felt hot and sick, it was 32 here. Had to pop out this afternoon to the shops and to walk the dog around the woods. Felt ill driving in this heat ☀️ 🥵 🔥 On my return home during the hottest part of the day, I saw a lady wearing jeans and a black coat!!! 😦

I'm a teacher and it's the summer holidays. I'm starting back next Monday, though. 🤷‍♀️

I am lucky enough to live on the side of a hill, and every evening and night from sunset onwards there is a breeze up the slope, in through my bedroom window and across my bed, and out through the bathroom window on the other side of the landing. That cools the house down enough for me to be able to sleep, and even feel quite chilly by about six in the morning as the sun starts to come back up.

I'm getting some exercise simply by walking from one end of the kitchen to the other, back again, and then from one end to the other of the living room. Twelve steps in each direction; it adds up after a bit. And I have no intention whatever of going out until I have to! Eventually we'll need bread and milk, and cheese to go on the bread, but that can wait for tomorrow first thing when it is due to be a mere twenty degrees here not the thirty-three this afternoon.

I’ve had a low key day as well. Even Dog has spent the day sleeping, and didn’t mind not playing ball at lunchtime.,

If you’re able to I’d absolutely be lazy and do as little as possible! I had to work during the last 2 or is it 3 now as I’m school based but now I’m on school holidays if we get another one I’m totally lazing the day away!!
