Count Binface has a genuine chance against Nigel Farage!

Sounds crazy but…

None of the major parties are competing…

Farage won Clacton with 46% of the vote…

If the 54% united together to vote for Binface, we could have the most preposterous election outcome of all time!

I reckon this could get some genuine momentum… all the other parties would LOVE this result, and even if they didn’t actively campaign for it, would surely quietly be gunning for Binface to win.

Is a joke MP really what the country needs right now?

Instead of Farage. Absolutely yes.

Oh come on. Give up a £90k a year job to give up your seat ?

So given a seat in the House or Lords ? Well that makes Burnham bad doesn’t it ?

Telling your mate to move over but you’ll give him a job for life in the HoL? Isn’t that bad to you ? It stinks of jobs for the boys. Go quietly without a fuss and I’ll look after you.? What?!

We are taking about our next PM who’s decisions will affect all our lives.

Farage is ultimately just an MP. He isn’t in Government.Im more worried about the conduct of our actual government.

Are you new to planet earth? Every leading politician in every nation has the power to offer roles. So do all business leaders. So do all royal families. So do all religious leaders.

There's no way you mean these things you're saying, but I'm enjoying the silliness.

Do you think Farage wouldn't give HoL roles to people who helped him out? (I'm not in favour of an unelected chamber personally, but given it's there, I'm not surprised it gets used as it does.)

No one answered my previous question. I’m just curious about this one ..

What did Josh Simons get in return for stepping down at Makerfield ? Does anyone know ? What was in it for him ?

Whatever it was it wasn’t £5 million quid and a townhouse in Mayfair.

No one knows what was said between AB and JS.
We know that Josh has said he stood aside because he believes Burnham is the right leader for the Labour Party at this time.
A lot of people agree with this. Some very passionately. Some so passionately they may put what they see to be the greater good of the party and by extension the country first. Josh may be such a man.
People tend to sneer at this. Because they struggle to believe that anyone can care more for the greater good than their own gain. Yet many on the left demonstrably do. The left wing high earners who support increased taxation for example.
Of course, Josh may well have been promised another role. Probably has, as giving up his role of MP came at a cost, so it would be fair he had an alternative option
However, that's a long way from taking some sort of bribe. Some people just do what they feel is right without financial incentive. We shouldn't judge everyone by Farage's standards.

Why assume he gave a bribe? You may judge people by your own standards, but perhaps he gave up his seat for the good of the country? Altruism does exist you know.

One of the worst things about the HoL is the fact that many seats have obviously been bought, but at least we can see when this has happened if donations are declared.

Farage seems to think he is above these rules.

I think that’s a naive take personally. There would have been something offered…

I think you have got to be careful saying there has been bribery. That really isn’t the case. If you think that, report it to the police

Yes, a better chance for a better future. Some people genuinely care about such things. We don’t all take £5 million quid in back handers.

With what proof ? We don’t know what was offered ? I’m just curious that no one in the media questioned what Simon’s got, if he did get anything?

Alternatively, people have entirely understood the point you're making and find it unpersuasive.

You are very free to have a problem with Simons resigning to make way for Burnham if you want, and you can even want the rules to be changed so it's no longer allowed in the future. If you consider being offered a role to be a bribe, again that's fine, and unfortunately you're going to see a great deal of it if you start looking. However, people disagreeing with you about this doesn't mean they're missing your point.

Bribery is a criminal offence! You can’t just speculate or infer it happened? You have no idea.

Farage’s donations are suspicious; yet you don’t make the same accusations.

Toohotforwork · Today 17:42

We will all see in the near future. It is being widely reported that Josh Simons has been offered a highlly paid non-job by Burnham at the tax payers expense.

If not bribed - he is being highly "rewarded".

I'm not missing your point, I just think it's a weak point.

Uricon2 · Today 17:44

It demonstrates the state we're in when people will make not so veiled allusions that Andy B bribed Simons based on nothing whatever and still choose to ignore the very serious allegations against someone they 'like'.

"Noooo, don't look over here, look over there!!"

Frankly, I won't mind if Simons gets a plum job, as he appears to put the good of the country and the good of the party before personal ambition and enrichment.

Unlike Farage.

Yes, many people care about such things… but it seems highly unlikely to expect someone would be so selfless as to give up their parliamentary seat (presumably a lifetime ambition) and a £90k salary, with no prospects of anything in return apart from a warm fuzzy feeling that they’re giving a colleague a chance to be elected (Barnham wasn’t a dead cert) in order to oust another colleague.

I’d be astonished if Burnham didn’t offer him a role in 10 Downing Street or something similar. He’s hardly going to say “Thanks for giving up your seat for me… Now piss off!”

I take back my comment with the bribe word. But rewarded is a possibility.

That is more accurate, thank you. Watching politics for years it would surprise me a great deal if what looks like political job offers were regarded as bribes in criminal terms. It would probably mean all sides of the political spectrum were up to bribery.

Still not £5 million in dodgy crypto that’s been laundered via drug dealers though is it?

noblegiraffe · Today 17:47

Prime Ministers always appoint their allies to various roles. I'm sure that Wes Streeting will get something for not standing against Burnham.

Dunno why this needs speculation or dark whispers, it's always how it goes.

What does 'non-job' mean?
Because all governments have people doing jobs that the tabloids call non-jobs!
