I was really ill yesterday and especially last night, lots of vomiting etc (sorry tmi)
We live abroad and it’s extremely hot, we don’t drink the tap water here.
The bedroom was a real mess this morning-sick bucket full, duvet yucky, he quietly said my name to wake me up and that he was going to work.
I feel horrendous, so weak and there’s zero water and drinks. I’m trying to set up
a delivery service to see if they can deliver
Does anyone think this is a bit shitty to leave me with no drinks. Feel so dehydrated

The first few posts, what is wrong with you? Hope you get no sympathy when you have your next sick bug.

@Footballscominghomehey Hope you’re feeling better soon, if you haven’t done delivery yet get done rehydration sachets as well.

Yes it is shitty of your husband

Came on here to say exactly this!

I'm always amazed by what massive dicks people can be...

@CoralOP you sound really poorly. If you can't get a delivery, do you have a neighbour, friend.. or your DH.. who can nip round and leave you some supplies?

Kidney stones - the worst pain ever. Hope you feel better soon...

MidnightEagle · Yesterday 13:39

That's very poor! Who leaves someone who is sick without water??!!

katepilar · Yesterday 13:39

Ladamesansmerci · Yesterday 11:15

What is wrong with people on here 😂

It's basic human decency to give a vomiting person in bed some water and see if they need anything. I would do this for a stranger, let alone my spouse.

Yes, exactly. Thats my view as well.

Some of the comments are really nasty.

Jesus, couldn’t you have put a trigger warning about this thread!

Reallyneedsaholiday · Yesterday 13:45

If he was sleeping in another room, he probably didn't even realise that you'd drunk all three bottles of water/ all that was in the house, or that you were using the bin instead of the bathroom to throw up in. Why didn't/ don't you message him to tell him that you need, rather than posting on social media. WE are not in a position to help out practically. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Are you trying to be helpful or just trying to stick the boot in?

Because the OP evidently didn't feel up to getting to the toilet at the time...? Nice sympathetic input there.

There are no drinks at all in the entire house?

This

what has he been drinking if there are no drinks?

LilyBunch25 · Yesterday 13:51

Middletoleft · Yesterday 09:55

A sick bucket? I don't think I've ever used one since I was a child. Anyway, I digress. It would have been nice if he'd left you something even a bottle of water. Or are you saying there's absolutely nothing to drink at all??

However, you need to get yourself up, empty your bucket, clean your teeth and wash your face which will help you feel better. You're going to have to get up to receive a delivery anyway.

Perhaps OP should also do the Macarena while they're at it, during this burst of energy?

So many people incapable of using their words. If you want your husband to do something then ask him.

Of course everyone will pile on and say you shouldn’t have to but it’s better than basically waiting for someone to make a mistake. One of the most infuriating phrases in the world is ‘You should have…’

You’re such a fortunate person to have never experienced illness before.

ig you’d had, then you’d understand that for some severe illness it’s just not possible to speak or even think straight.

lucky you though

The drinks. That’s why there’s none left.

As best you can, obviously, as we've all done as and when we've lived alone. The point is that OP doesn't live alone. In sickness and in health...? Old fashioned if you like but I'll bet OP has shown hubby some care and consideration when he's been ill in the past.

I drank three large water bottles last night
I have coffee or green tea, but just need cold water

Both coffee and green tea are diuretics and should be avoided.

Missohnoyoubetterdont · Yesterday 13:53

Jesus, the people on here! Hope you are feeling better soon OP, sounds awful. I too would be sad and upset my partner didn’t seem to care but I would be having a long conversation when he gets home about expectations and empathy and what you expect going forward in the future.

But she doesn't live alone. Yes we all manage when we're alone but not checking on your wife who has been vomiting all night and in horrendous pain with kidney stones is an incredibly shitty thing to do.

A none argument. If you live alone it’s a given that you have to manage alone - assuming you don’t have friends or family you can call on for help. If you live with a partner, you would expect them to support you if you were unwell - basic kindness isn’t difficult.

MyNewMaker · Yesterday 13:55

fyi if/ when you get something to drink don’t just get water! Make sure you get an isotonic drink too as you’re electrolytes will be all out of whack and will make you feel worse x

Why - do the words ‘sick bucket’ and ‘vomiting’ trigger you ?

The OP isn't asking for practical help.

Buynow · Yesterday 13:58

Maybe for the future you could get some water purification tablets to keep.
Then in an emergency you could decontaminate and boil water.
I presume you're not in Europe as apart from the odd isolated area you can drink the water. Lots of people don't but it's safe, same as UK.

Get well soon

She’d need to put the sick bucket down first !!

OneSparklyWasp · Yesterday 14:01

I remember years ago I got Norovirus & it was the illest I've ever been in my life. V&D non stop, desperately poorly & bedbound. After 24 hours of this, my ex husband literally looked irritabley at his watch & said surely you should be over this now, it's only a 24hr bug! He then went away on business leaving me with 3 small boys. I was ill for over a week. You can see why he ended up becoming an ex. Some men (& women) don't have the capacity for care, empathy & kindness for others when they're ill.
