Drunk messages from friend about staying at her house last weekend

Footballjess · 05/07/2026 09:03

I have woken up to my friend sending me a series of really shitty messages late last night/into early hours - obviously been drinking.

Last weekend, I stayed over at hers and her husband’s with my DH (they live about an hour away and we were watching the football which started late).

DH and I started to have sex when I realised my totm had started early so we stopped. There was a little bit of mess on the bed which I did my best to clean but had to tell my friend the next day and I offered to buy new sheets.

She was fine at the time and said not to worry. Her messages have called me all sorts, said I was disgusting to have sex when in her spare bedroom and that I should have known it wasn’t the right time.

I am really taken aback by the messages and haven’t replied yet. I’m thinking of just leaving it until she sobers up and hopefully apologises?

I would ignore her until she apologised tbh. I might even continue to ignore and just ghost her, depending on what she said

Bloody hell id be mortified if someone felt they couldn’t have sex at my house!

I’d certainly leave it for a bit for now. But I’m not sure this is salvageable.

Would you? Why? It’s hardly a a blight on your hospitality.
I wouldn’t have sex in someone else’s house, I’m not an animal, or a teenager.

No wonder your friend is annoyed yes early period's happen but to mention the sex bit is a bit to much. You could have just said you started your period and left it at that

After stripping the bed and putting the soiled linen in the washing machine on a hot wash with a scoop of Vanish.

I offered and she told me not to 😬

She was being polite! Of course you should have!

Yeah, that’s gross. You don’t need to ask, surely. You just do it.
You may need to rethink your standards.

Bloody hell- I’m amazed at the number of people outraged at a married couple having sex in someone else’s home. It wouldn’t bother me in the slightest- I understand if they were making a racket.

this thread really shows how uptight many people are about sex.

the reaction is completely illogical- so it’s ok to shit in someone’s toilet ( with doors closed, in private) but not ok to have sex?

obviously - don’t leave a mess to clean up in either situation, but the ‘mess’ was period blood. And surely you just stick it straight in the washing machine??

I think the issue here is that you didn’t just remove the sheets and put them in the wash the next morning. Who asks if they want the bed stripping? You just do it. You know it can’t be slept in again due to the staining anyway (regardless of just needing new sheets for the next person who stays) so strip it and deal with it.
Just a word to your friend, “hi sarah, unfortunately I unexpectedly came on my period and have left a stain on your sheets, I’ve stripped the bed and put it in the wash but have ordered you a replacement because the stains probably won’t come out. Sorry for the inconvenience, thanks for having us to stay, we had a lovely time.”
I have no idea what made you think you’d tell your friend you were having sex in her spare room and then wrecked her sheets, it’s detail no one needs!

Ah. Derisory toward the board on which you’ve posted. Good move.

May I ask why you would find it gross?

Because there's no way I would risk being overheard. It's just not the done thing. You can go one night without sex surely

Missjonesandrigby · 05/07/2026 12:45

HoppingPavlova · 05/07/2026 09:15

You are asking why people would find others sex secretions on their sheets gross? Really? It’s something that is okay to do in a hotel but not someone’s house.

No it's not OK to do in a hotel either.

Some underpaid chambermaid has to clean it up.

Op is right though.
MN is full of pp's who only have sex at home and think nobody should poop in an ensuite.

It’s not the sex itself, it’s why you feel the need to talk about it.

It’s fine to poo in someone’s toilet, but you would come back and announce what a massive poo you’ve done.

It’s always the ones not having it enough feel the need to talk about it.

SayWhatty · 05/07/2026 12:50

I don't get the big deal about having sex in someone else's house, sex isn't just for teenagers or (other) animals, weird take.
However your friend has probably got the ick about cleaning up what she may assume is a mix of blood and spunk - she's only human. It would have been better just to say you got your period unexpectedly and leave it at that. Also you should have stripped the bed and bought new sheets.
Just call her and apologise for misjudging. I think it would be OK to say you were taken aback by her messages. Hopefully she will apologise too.

Don't be ridiculous.
Chambermaids get paid nmw in the uk same as any similar job and a hotel is definitely a place to have sex.
Why do you think people go to hotels for anniversaries.

I agree.
OP needs to review her standards of behaviour.

I have friends who will not come to stay with me at certain times because they are due a period (with heavy flow) and don't want to make a mess.

I personally won't stay in hotels or friends' houses unless I have STs the size of doorsteps and an old towel with me to put under my bum.

Sex in such situations is out of the question, both out of respect to my friends and to the chambermaids who have to service my room at a hotel.

OP if you have some kink about having sex in a strange bed during a period then that's your bag but don't leave all your sex/period slop for others to clear up.
That's beyond gross.

I'm looking for a vomit emoji but can't find one.🙁

thejelliclecats · 05/07/2026 12:56

So you had sex in her bed, bled on her sheets and didn't even clean up after yourself? 😳

A hotel is definitely a place to have sex - really ?

I know people who have guest houses who have had to increase their charges because of people who piss the bed, shit the bed and leave blood and cum all the over the place.

Unless you have any idea of the cost of a new mattress then I suggest you stop commenting.

Thatsnotmynameno · 05/07/2026 13:01

Did it leak through onto the mattress? Tbf I’d be disgusted with you, telling me you had sex and made a bloody mess without bothering to clean it up and expect me to do it? Are you ok? It’s really disrespectful and to me you sound like the one who has sex once a year, hence you felt the need to share this with your friend.

Did you miss the part where I said it stopped early? Once I knew that I’d come on we obviously didn’t continue, I just sorted DH out and cleaned what I could.

Why did you offer rather than just doing it before you even told her there was a problem, like most people would have done?
You haven’t behaved well at all.

Hankunamatata · 05/07/2026 13:05

Sorry its totally cringe having sex when staying in spare room.

No one wants ot hear the house guests having sex

Hobnobswantshernameback · 05/07/2026 13:06

Oh and loving the added detail about " sorting your husband out"
