Since England's World Cup game with Mexico is at 1am Monday morning, it seems only fair that we should get a bank holiday Monday, since Scotland got one for their World Cup game that was in the early hours of a Sunday morning. It would be a nice thing for Keir Starmer to do as one of his final acts as PM.

I wonder how many employers will count sickies made on Monday as 'unauthorised'? Ie don't get paid. Unless employees have sick notes covering Monday for other conditions.

Spare a thought for those like me who live near a pub. I'm unsure if the pub which the far end of the pub garden is 50m from my home is opening til 5am on Monday. Checked. It's quiet, unless England play.

There will be singing and dancing in the streets if England win and general jubilation, I don't see how it will be possible to avoid knowing the result.

I think England should get a bank holiday on Monday. We got it in Scotland, although I was working anyway.

You can tell how they did from the noises. I got home just before 5 on Wednesday and could tell that the first goal in the DR Congo match was against England.

It’s quiet rest of the time. Probably about 4 times in 17 years I struggled to get to sleep as my previous job I had early starts
