To be shocked that my good friend, 37, is seeing a 66 year old lady?

Had a few beers with a good friend recently and got a bit tipsy and we got into his dating life. He told me that he’s been seeing a 66 year old grandmother. He is only 37 for reference. They met via online dating.

To be clear, there is nothing wrong with this but I’m just a bit shocked to be honest. He says that they enjoy each other’s company and there is no intention of it developing into anything more.

My friend has always dated younger women and not short of female attention at all.

I'm fascinated by this! Does the older woman look like a gran? Most 66 year old women do. Does she have work done? Did your friend say what excatly the attraction is? Has he been with an older woman before.

You must be reading a different forum to me or perhaps jaded by the men in your life.

I think there is something wrong with it, a 20 + year age gap is always bad news in my opinion, doesn’t matter if the older partner is male or female. Different stages in life and power imbalance. Also just ikky (I’m 44 it would be like me dating a 18-20 year old, eurgh)
However this is your friend’s business, as long as you don’t feel he’s being abused or anything it’s up to him. Don’t get involved

Unusual but not your life. I am 89 and see a lady well over 50 years younger. It is not just friendship; we’ve known each other for years.

If this was about a woman of 37 and a man of 66 here on MN he’d be called a dirty old pervert.

Don't be ageist just because she is 66 doesn't mean she is old its a number she is probably really good for 66 and will have great conversation up for all kinds grown up family .. he finds her attractive in all ways good luck to him & her.

Men date 30 years younger all the time, so why shouldn't women? Sounds like it could be a very cool cross-generational friendship.
