AIBU to think neighbours should not be naked in their garden?

For context: Our house is on a new build estate and the houses are pretty close together. It’s fairly easy to see into neighbours gardens because the trees etc are not well established yet.

AIBU to say my neighbours shouldn’t be naked in their garden. They are often out in the garden totally naked taking photos of themselves. They have parties quite often and it’s not uncommon for them and friends to be out in the garden naked / using the hot tub etc.

Am I being a killjoy ? Seems excessive to me.

😂 Well we've established that you think that.

We've also established that 90% (at least) of the population don't live the lifestyle you do.

You continuing to state your opinion in the face of strong evidence to the contrary isn't 'establishing' any sort of consensus. It flies firmly in the face of how we usually agree consensus and reality on planet Earth. But you do you. We're all entitled to our opinion, for what it's worth.

You haven’t presented any evidence. You have simply repeated your own narrative over and over again. I’m not sure whether you’re trying to convince yourself or others? Clearly it hasn’t worked.

Okaaaay....

It sounds like you haven't read my posts properly. In terms of evidence, I clearly referred to the IPSOS survey you yourself brought up on the thread several times. I don't need any further evidence than that, it's a slam-dunk.

If you're unable to comprehend that, I'm afraid nobody's going to be able to help you.

So I was correct then, you haven’t presented any evidence.
At risk of repeating myself as you seem to have failed to comprehend the statistics - if there are fifty houses in a road with two adults in each for example, then it is reasonable to assume that fourteen people in that road will be practising naturists. Ergo even if there was only one on every road it is entirely reasonable to conclude that the practice and philosophy of naturism are neither a “fringe sub-culture” nor “transcending a taboo”.

1985goingbackagain · 29/06/2026 10:17

@babypicklesyou have my sympathy - not only are you living next to this, you are also getting a ridiculous pile on from all these people who apparently would have no issue with it.

whatever anyone here is claiming, this is not common behaviour. I’ve certainly never had naked neighbours and the only naturists I do know (2 people) went to a pre arranged camp to enjoy this with other likeminded people.

I stick by my original comment that this is not a lifestyle suited to an overlooked new build estate. Yes they can do whatever they want in the privacy of their own garden…but the point is that their garden is not private if it’s overlooked.

Last nights party was still in full swing at 330 am.

My neighbour (who is friends with them on FB) has said they had a “Butler in the Buff”.

It’s all a bit cringe.

That's just not normal by any stretch of the imagination, drinking and nudity til the small hours is asking for things to get extreme, you don't want a kid looking out of a window because they've been woken up in the night and there's naked adults performing sex acts on each other! These parties feel a bit sleazy to me!

HutchMadras · 29/06/2026 17:15

Go nuclear? Get all the children from your children's classes round for a party, invite them to look out of the window and laugh and laugh, and laugh, maybe embarrassment will curb them. If not, get a load of over ripe fruit and tip it in your garden near the bordering fence, add a couple of wasps, and go and stay with family or friends for a long weekend. Buy an outdoor camera.

I think we’ve firmly established that it isn’t at all unusual, nor does naturism “transgress a taboo” in any way, shape or form, despite that not happening to fit your narrative.

Yes it is unusual! It's not unusual in naturist camps and beaches but when do those naked people wandering to the corner shop, mowing the lawn, drinking down the pub? The answer is you don't! Do you have colleagues that go to work naked? Do you ever see naked people filling up the car at a petrol station naked? No because it's not usual! Naturism is in specially provided places or behind closed doors and never ever in public.

Wow, that's quite the diatribe. People who don't want to have to see other people's naked bits really rile you, don't they?

Well obviously you don't. Since it highlights the fallacy in your thinking.
There's no fallacy in my thinking, but thanks for your concern. You seem to be working yourself up into quite the froth here just because not everyone agrees with you, and I find it amusing that you're accusing others on the thread of fascism when you're literally trying to browbeat others into agreeing with you.

What percentage of (actual) crimes against children have been performed by people who were naked in public?

And ironically, given that you were trying to accuse me of flawed thinking 😂you have completely misunderstood my point. I wasn't suggesting people who are naked in public commit crimes against children ffs. I was suggesting that if children are allowed to run around naked they are at risk from paedos. Hope that clears up the confusion.

I won't be wasting any more time on your posts given your apparent utter incomprehension to consider points of view other than your own. If you want to walk around naked, move to Cap d'Agde or join a nudist colony or something (or even just draw the sodding curtains), and while you're at it learn to accept that sometimes in life you're going to be in the minority with your opinions. Oh, and if you have children and they don't want to be naked around you or vice versa, I hope to God you don't bully and browbeat them like you have attempted to do to people on this thread.

I think you’ve entered diatribe top
trumps!

Context is key here. Of course you don’t see people going to the shop or drinking in the pub naked, any more than you would see those same people in bikinis or swimsuits. But sunbathing in your own garden, swimming or sitting in a hot tub, then yes, you could quite reasonably expect to encounter someone naked, particularly in this heatwave, although in my case it’s just DP and I, rather than a bunch of friends which I concede is rather unusual. I should state also that I absolutely don’t condone the late-night noise and disruption in the case of the OP neighbours.

I'd be interested to know whether the naturists/naturist-leaning on this thread have kids. And if so, what their kids think about all this and how they respond to that.

Intheswing · Today 10:27

I agree and in this weather I'm out naked in my garden if neighbours peep that's their problem

What will be more fun is when the 11 year old son tells his schoolmates what goes on and the OP has a massive queue of 11+ year old boys at her door all popping up her son's bedroom to "play the playstation"/"listen to some music"/"do homework together".
It'll go a bit "Inbetweeners" very quickly...
