British English or US 😶

What? I am neither.

It’s nothing to do with football although some men may use that as an excuse. It’s about entitlement and lack of emotional maturity and regulation.

I’m a football fan and I have two sons who are football fans and they would never, ever do this. I know lots of non sporting fans who would be abusive to their wives and would use other excuses: I’m depressed, stressed at work, need validation for lack of confidence, haven’t had many relationships, she made me do it, she doesn’t earn enough, she earns too much. It’s all bullshit and we should stop blaming external factors. It’s a him issue for which he should be accountable.

I doubt dick pic guys mum thinks he's the type to do it either

What? I am neither.

I think they meant because of the difference in what fanny means.
(But I've managed to send neither)

justasking111 · 24/06/2026 14:13

Why do men think a picture of their private parts is alluring. Truly curious?

Apparently some women do

It was an poor attempt at a joke.

In US English Fanny is backside.

In UK English it's the Vulva.

I'm Scottish. A fanny is a fanny, hence the old irn bru advert when the young couple had named their wean "fanny" and the family were like 😱.

But yes, I'm the same. Never, ever occured to me to take my knickers off, take a photo of my fanny and send it to my husband's pals. No matter how drunk I've been.

moose62 · 24/06/2026 05:41

I would tell her, but phrase it as "I think this was sent by mistake "....that gives her an out. Even if she knows that's not the case and you know that's not the case, it could save your friendship.
Either way, she needs to know.

I love this idea, it's diplomatic as hell and has the plausible deniability aspect to it 🤔. I think I will be using faux naivety for every sticky, problematic situation going forward fuck em , they can't prove otherwise.

Sassylovesbooks · 24/06/2026 15:31

I've had random men sending me dick pictures on Instagram (unsolicited I'm hasten to add) and I report and block. This is different though, it's from a good friend's partner, someone you're exchanged pleasantries with, but you don't know very well.

I would have told the friend in your position OP too. Your friend had a right to know what her partner is up to behind her back. Let's be honest, I doubt it's his first rodeo, he's probably been sending these type of messages to multiple women throughout their relationship.

Yes, alcohol played it's part in the man sending the message and picture but it doesn't excuse him. You are his partner's friend, and he's sending you a dick picture and lusting after you. It's a smack in the mouth to your friend, how awful for her to now know that her partner has been lusting after her friend. It's not exactly going to do much for her self-esteem.

Leave your friend to decide what she wants to do regarding her relationship. I can't imagine she's going to want you to report the incident to the police, but that's your choice if you decide on this path.

Stop that! Seriously. This UK English thing. If you mean "English", say that. Stop dragging the rest of us into it.

We, in Scotland, part of the UK, call it a "fanny". In fact, for a number of years we used rhyming slang and called it a "Shareen".

In tribute to Shareen Nanjiani.

Have any of the excusers on this thread inadvertantly sent a picture of their bare fanny to a partner of one of their friends when they have a drink in them?

Edited

I've never taken a photo of my nethers, drunk or sober. So never had to face the risk of sending it to someone inadvertently. Maybe more men need to follow the same practice (how come they never accidentally send it to their nan?).

Nutshell. This was no accident.

CanOnlyBeMyself · 24/06/2026 15:49

What a load of drama. I would have deleted it and pretend I'd never seen it. Your poor friend.

@Blondiebeachbabe Are you serious? People like you are part of the problem. Thank goodness your unfathomable attitude is one that’s all but disappeared now: I’m so proud of my DD and her friends for absolutely refusing to put up with any of this shit. Women who support abusive men make me sick.

CanOnlyBeMyself · 24/06/2026 15:53

They are like a huge worm.

Sometimes just a worm.

Doesn't matter. Drunk or sober, I have never had the urge to photograph my genitals, but or breasts and share those images with anyone. The name people use for their anatomy is completely beside the point.

FFS it was intended to be a joke about fanny meaning different a thing in the US from the UK.

SweetnsourNZ · 24/06/2026 16:09

Personally I would be offended and actually angry enough to not worry about upsetting friend. What if your son or someone else had seen it? I would be telling her that I was pissed off and that it is never to happen again. Hopefully it might be the catalyst for her to get rid. Wonder if you were the only female to get a pic.

RedToothBrush · 24/06/2026 16:10

Breadcat24 · 24/06/2026 12:50

Just as an aside has anyone ever received a dick pic and thought "ooh lovely you sexy beast!"?

No.

I don't know why men think women want a dick pic. They are ugly things. That only make you go ick.

Skybluepinky · 24/06/2026 16:21

I overheard a screaming match between 2 sisters about one sisters boyfriend sending dick pick to the other, the sister who’s boyfriend it was sided with the boyfriend. The messenger always gets shot, message him just say think you sent this to the wrong person, and tell her you think he sent you a dick puck ment for her. Block him.

JustSawJohnny · 24/06/2026 16:34

Men who send unsolicited dick pics are plain fucking revolting.

Women who defend it, too.

I couldn't imagine clicking a pic of my Shareen and thinking, nice, I'll send that to my best friend's husband. WTF goes through their tiny minds. Disgusting behaviour.

@GoodbyeZebedee thank you, thats the current plan. She has made it clear to him its a criminal offence and has told me if I decide to report him she will back me but when I asked her what she wanted me to do in regards the police she has asked me to do nothing (at the moment)

To clarify before anyone asks, I have read the full thread and my thoughts -

OP - I'd do an online 101 Police Report stating facts. Mention your friend has asked you to not take this further but as it is quite clearly a criminal offence you want it logged. And see what the Police suggest going forward. At this point you don't need to let your friend know -

Why? This guy may have previous. This is the sort of stuff that comes up on Claires Law, sexualised behaviour, unsolicited (and unwanted) pics. This may be the first time he's done something like this - and a good scare may make this the last. However he may have done similar before.

Lets not normalise this sort of behaviour in writing it off as "it could have been a mistake" / "he could have been drunk" , etc. The law is there for a reason, it's been bloody fought over to keep us safe, let's use it.

NeedToTakeTimeToChill · 24/06/2026 16:41

Not a helpful comment, but I just don’t understand why men think a picture of their naked mole rat is attractive?

They are the ugliest things ever and should only be handled in the dark.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/06/2026 17:12

You are absolutely right, @NeedToTakeTimeToChill. Do these men really think it is an attractive body part? I mean - I love dh, but his willy is not his most attractive feature, for sure!

Oh for heavens sake - bring back the laugh emoji 😂

To answer the question, despite not being an excuser, I can't say I have 😉
